Favorite portrait photography
I love a good portrait. A million bonus points for capturing a good moment when someone's looking at someone else in a telling way, or caught in the middle of some small motion that allows you to spin a story in front of and behind it. I ran across some great photos from the West Indies Parade in Brooklyn and thought I'd post a couple of my favorites.
What are some of your favorite photographic portraits? Specific photographers? Subjects or themes?

Re: Favorite portrait photography
Cool idea for a topic!
That very famous picture of an Afghan woman, Sharbat Gula, is reaallllly striking when paired with a recent portrait of her. She has the most amazing gaze.
I've mentioned this before, a a series of portraits of actors (mostly comedians) given different cues, which I love for the way you can see how different the same face can be, how mobile. I particularly liked these ones:
Wrinkles are wonderful.

Ran across a really cool series of portraits of female metalheads in Botswana today, had to share because Vicky's hat is so amazing.
