Should i move on....

Post by bitboy1993 on Wed Jul 20, 2016 7:15 pm

I met this girl at a friends party about a week ago and i thought she was flirting with me(Laughing at my jokes, putting stuff down my shirt as a joke). We seemed to get along well and i decided to add her on facebook. I've spoken to her twice and i can't help but think i'm just annoying her. She does reply and we did talk for a bit but it feels like i might have been mistaken. It started out alright as she showed me some of her film work and asked me about college but now she mainly just gives one word answers or emojis.

She does seem quite shy but I just feel like I've made a huge mistake and should give up now.

Not really sure what to do.... Should i just move on or see how things go.

Feels like the online interaction is stretched thin, which can sometimes happen. Are you generally in each other's social circles? If so, tone down the e-convos and wait till you see her again to see if there's chemistry in meatspace. Asking her out online at this point might feel a bit like the spark's fizzled out after medicore interaction. Also an option is inviting her to a group event to see if there's chemistry (do not treat it as a pseudo-date, do not do a thing you wouldn't be doing anyway with friends), then ask her out afterwards in case there is, and to leave as pals in case there isn't.

I know some of her friends from college but really the party was the first time I've met her. I might get to know more people in her social circle as I seemed to get along really well with the others at the party. One of the other girls mentioned we would meet up again soon when the party was finishing. It's funny as I nearly didn't go but it ended up being one of the best nights of my life.

You might be right as it did start to feel stretched out but It just seemed like a big change and it caught me by surprise. That said I do plan to cut down the conversations with her until i see her again in person.

Yeah I was thinking something simple like going shopping in town as a group with my friend who hosted the party. To be honest even if she said no I would be cool being friends as we seemed to get along well.

It sounds like you've got the right attitude about it - whether she's interested or not, seems like it was a good experience were you met some people you get on with, which is always a plus!

Yeah hopefully it's a starting point either way, hopefully I will have an answer soon and can move on if she says no.

To be honest the more I think about it the less hopeful i am. I'm still going to try but the whole one word answers does not seem like a good sign(Sorry just been thinking about while out with friends and needed to get this out of my system)

Maybe do a group event with no expectations and see how things go after hanging out in person again? If you still feel some chemistry with her, ask her at the end if she wants to go on a date and use the word date. Whatever she says will let you know friends or otherwise

Yeah I will decide what to do during the weekend, if i do ask her about meeting up it won't be for a few days as I don't want to be overbearing

Thanks for the advice guys Smile

It doesn't look like the group thing will be happening(For various reasons). That said my friend mentioned she will be doing a party with the same people around new years. So while not the result I was looking for at least something good came out of it. Smile

So after tonight I've more or less realized shes not interested. Tried to talk with her and was very short and awkward again. I'm going to stop speaking to her for now as I'm worried about creeping her out. Anyway cheers for all the advice guys it was helpful. Smile
