Seems a little thin so far (I'm about to parse through it more closely) but every time I say that I end up watching like 30 things

Man, I'm hardly seeing anything that looks even potentially interesting. There are a couple that the description sounds really boring but might be better than that, but honestly, there's nothing that makes me curious enough to watch at a glance. Let me know if you pick out anything worth looking at.

Yeah, I don't really have high hopes for this season. Some of them look beautifully animated (for Episode 1s) but seem fairly generic otherwise. A bunch of the slice-of-lifes look okay. I'm super happy that 3-Gatsu no Lion/March Comes in Like A Lion is continuing. It wildly swings being comfy and sad and it's atmospheric and aesthetic as fuckkkkk and was the sneak thing that I started looking forward to on Saturdays when like half of last season's playlist came out.

Isn't that the one about a shogi player?

Re: Winter 2017 Anime Chart
The writer for it did something called "Honey and Clover" that was supposed to be a really popular slice of life, so it's got a bit of backing behind it
Even the trailer shows the wild swings. Half the time the male lead is the face of crippling depression as he stares off into a scenic riverside and then the other half it's ultimate 2D waifu and adorable little sister-chans brightening up the day

Hmm, doesn't really sound like my thing, but it does look pretty, and I do often enjoy slice of life more than I expect to. Maybe I'll give it a go if nothing else grabs me.

Yeah, I don't think it's your kind of thing, but as far as not being your kind of thing, the first episode at least is really pretty to look at.

Kuzu no Honkai/Scum's Wish is pretty erotic. Good animation, they make a point of showing like tongue-kissing, making sure you can hear the characters breathing, and the story seems cliche (unrequited love) but it's also got that feeling where it's like "whoever's making this has put thought behind the cliches and isn't just producing something to produce something."

Re: Winter 2017 Anime Chart
Upgrade, to the previous comment, whoever's doing this has put a LOT of thought into it. It's being philosophical about awkward teenage romances and awkward teenage crushes on adults, and awkward lesbian crushes, and teenagers awkwardly pretending to be all for this romance and sex stuff but internally being freaked out by it.
Which is kind of funny because the first episode was very "oneeeee-channnn" and it was like "Oh, one of these, but at least it's nicely animated."
