So, my therapist officially got me off meds... thought that I could function with out them.

WTF was he thinking?!?

1. At first I would be more active, getting out of my house and being more sociable, however as time went by, I went back to isolating myself.

2. I did the recommended mental exercises, they would be effective at first, but again as time went by, I saw no results.

The conclusion is: none of this therapy has given me the results I wanted, I feel cheated...

The worst part is - I'm 27 years old, rapidly approaching 30. lets face it, it's too late for me to catch up with everybody else...

Might as well resign myself to living like the loser I am.

Talk to your therapist, it sounds like the meds were still doing something useful for you. That doesn't mean your therapy has been useless, it just means that your brain chemistry is doing something that therapy can't handle on its own right now. While you're reacting badly to a change in meds is not a great time to be trying to plan your future or deciding what's possible, so go back to your therapist and get that situation sorted first.

Yeah, therapists can make mistakes like anyone else. If you're feeling significantly worse off your meds, tell your therapist. It's a good thing that you were, at one point, feeling more active and social-- you can get back to feeling that way, even if it means going back on meds for a while.

And there's no use feeling "cheated" when you don't get the results out of therapy you want. I know it's frustrating, but don't let yourself start feeling like you were promised something and then denied it; therapy and medication is a crapshoot of trial and error for everyone. You just gotta keep trying things until something works. I hope you can find a good solution that has you feeling better soon!

I hate crapshoots, I don't like to take chances or risks unless I am ABSOLUTELY certain that I get the results I get, as in a 110% success rate.

Wellll, like you already know, there aren't any 110% odds or certainties in life (death, taxes, etc.), so that level of risk-averseness might be something else to talk to your therapist about. Wink

And surely your military training has prepared you for risks, no? Every time you go into combat, there is a risk that you will either live or die and neither is a sure thing, and accepting that has to be part of basic training, right? Can you draw on some of that mindset when it comes to other parts of your life?

That's the fucking thing, all the training I received, should have at least fixed my problems, IDK what happened? Maybe I am broken by default, Maybe I might not be 100% well but still capable of being a functioning adult, etc. etc.

All these uncertainties make me... a little skeptical of advice anyone gives me, all the advice, while benign, is only through the eyes and successes and failure of the person giving them. If only mind melding were real, then every one would at least see the specific problems in my head and deal with it accordingly.

P.S. About risks and the military... Bay of Pigs, JFK took the risk, look how that dumpster fire turned out. Facepalm

A little update: I don't have to resign myself to a life of being a loser. But I am still a little upset, might have to pump my brakes a little before I spiral out again.

I need coffee... :/

Coffee and avoiding a spiral sounds like a good plan!
