Because feminism in the US is very white, middle class focused, I thought a list of books/media by non white feminists would be useful. I only have time to add a few now, but can flesh this out more later:

"African Feminism: The Politics of Survival in Sub-Saharan Africa", edited by Gwendolyn Mikell

"Talkin' Up to the White Woman: Indigenous Women and Feminism" by Aileen Moreton-Robinson

"Dreams of Trespass" by Fatima Mernissi

"Black Feminist Thought" by Patricia Hill Collins

Anything by Nawal El Saadawi

"Japanese Feminist" by Kato Shidzue

I quite like the poetry by nayyirah waheed, she has bundled it in salt. though you can find most of it on her Tumblr anyway.

Are we listing books ABOUT POC Feminism or are books by POC feminists okay? Because I have some great novels we read in our Francophone literature class, but I gotta figure out the English version first.

I was thinking of number 2, but definitely add number 1. More options the better!

Mariama Bâ, from Dakar, wrote So Long a Letter (Une si longue lettre), which was fabulous, but I've had bad luck recommending books I read in French to English speakers because it all has to do with the translation.

IIRC one complaint of the primary English translations of Simone de Beauvoir is their filtering through obnoxious '50s male chauvinism.
