Tell me something good!
It has been one of those horrendous weeks where shit you did not know existed hit the fan and everything that could go wrong did. What do you do or read or listen to to get your mind off your troubles?
For me:
Read: Jasper Fforde
Listen: Old school punk a la Black Flag, Fear, DK
Watch: puppy videos, especially akita puppies

Re: Tell me something good!
reboot, I'm not sure what I have done to make myself feel better, if anything (surprised kitty, date with a nice lady I met on OKC, snake wrestling) but I will just say that I FEEL YOU.
This week can kiss my fine ass. Hope your unanticipatedly awful shit resolves soon, and that if not, someone who is responsible for making you feel like this gets the Fiery Boots of Reboot's Righteousness up their bottom.

I've had a fairly medium weekend. In terms of comfort stuff, I bought some yummy-looking salmon at the store even though it made me go over my food budget a bit this week and curled up with the kitty and a book I've read many times before (sometimes I love the newness of new books, but there's something to be said for just relaxing without suspense or confusing bits too). I hope the horrendous part of your week is over, and I'm sorry things went so poorly.

Re: Tell me something good!
A good thing that happened for me today is...
My big sis-in-law finished knitting a scarf. But get this - she drafted the pattern herself. But get this - she did so specifically because I made her some rainbow merino handspun and she wanted to design a special pattern that would do the yarn justice. I feel all honoured and flattered that my messy little handspun was worth her going to all that effort for, and the finished result is so beautiful it makes me get little teary-eye bits.
Also, have a flood of adorable baby goats.

Wow, that's a gorgeous scarf, Bunny, even without knowing the story of how it was made.

Woah, you made that wool? (well, you and a sheep, presumably ) It's so gorgeous and real! And now it's a scarf! So cool!
For me, watching Totoro might be the thing for a week like that.
May next week be better for you, Reboot. And here is an Akita with a trampoline:

Well, what I usually do is a combination of listening to my favorite music - along with watching michaels oh so amusing "Rage Quit" Videos, always manages to cheer me up: (warning - foul language a plenty in the videos below - also, shouting and yelling alert, so watch the volume)

Re: Tell me something good!
I listened to Welcome to Night Vale with a friend and went to a Bacon Fest spontaneously! Best road trip decision ever.
I also allowed myself to play Hearthstone and Skyrim without guilt-tripping myself since I have papers due this week (I should be able to enjoy my downtime dangit! Stupid jerkbrain...)
I also made a blanket fort with someone who had NEVER MADE ONE BEFORE. She got teary when she found out the whole gang had made one before and she never did when she was a kid; not only was it the absolute best, but my sigfig had LED wire lining one of the blankets so it was like a den of Tron and joy.

I'm really going to have to get past my podcast apathy and listen to Welcome to Night Vale one of these days.

I recommend before bed Eselle! It was what got me hooked (I tend to be fidgety so sitting still and listening wasn't working out. The narrator's voice is so mellow!).

I find it impossible to feel sad while listening to 'The Ballroom Blitz'

As for happy news? I'm now up to 1.5 cats. There's a stray who pops over most days for food. She's a nervous little thing, so I have to move *very* slowly when ever she's about, but she's gradually getting more confident. I reckon another 6 months, I'll be able to stroke her. And the current cat doesn't seem to mind her too much either, but I'm showering him with affection so he doesn't feel replaced.

I listen to a lot of David Sylvian's music when I'm down / need something relaxing. Like right now, even though I'm at work (shh).
