Misheard Lyrics

Post by Robjection on Wed May 20, 2015 7:18 pm

In the "What are we listening to?" thread in Off-Topic, I posted a link to The Omen by Jay Farkasember. Through listening to it on continuous loops for a dozen minutes at a time, I was able to work out what most of the lyrics were. When I first heard the song, I thought one of the lines mentioned Space Mountain, as in the roller coaster at Disney World. Turns out the line was "where time and space melted into a glimmering spiral".

And it got me to thinkin': have you ever been listening to a song and you thought the singer was singing one thing but it turns out they were singing something else? What stories of misheard lyrics do y'all have?

I still maintain that Taylor Swift is singing, "All the lonely Starbucks lovers," and not "Got a long list of ex lovers."

Ah, you refer to mondegreens. Excuse me, while I kiss this guy.

I used to think this was "meet her in the back room"

When I first heard Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain", I thought she was saying this in the chorus: "I set fire to the left/watch it burn as I go insane/let it feel let fall...". That wasn't even close Neutral

I honestly used to think the chorus to this song is: "I'm blue, if I was green I would die...." after a friend told me once that those are the lyrics.

Boy did I feel silly when I finally heard it again on this youtube version that has the lyrics

I thought that "Lay Down Sally" was "Lay Down the Salad". You know, because this was southern-sounding music, and they don't do foods that aren't fried, right?
