Yep, a fly can now marry a bumblebee as long as they are both males.
...? What's that mean?

Same question. Care to clarify?

It's really nice to see my Facebook newsfeed filled with people celebrating marriage equality. It's good to know that so many of my friends/acquaintances care about that kind of thing, too.

That doesn't really help me understand the "as long as" part. How come female/female, female/male, and male/female fly-bee 'ships aren't allowed?

For those in need of a drink tonight...

2 oz Malort
.5 oz triple sec
2 dashes apple bitters
dash of salt

And you have your very own "Scalia's Tears" (courtesy of the Geek Bar in Chicago.)

I'm really glad to have multiple friends who are good at talking about relationships and feelings. Even a gripe session can relieve a lot of tension.

It works! It works! I finally have a washing machine that works. [/doc Brown voice]

It's been two months and two weeks since I got it, and I've been away for a part of that time of course, and stayed at my mother's for a lot of it, but after having my landlord over three times to help me connect it to water and drainage because neither water or drainage in the bathroom were quite right for it, then playing washing machine rodeo because of the transit bolts, then adjusting and adjusting its feet and tearing at my hair because it never seemed to be enough, then caving in and stick a bit of cardboard that I have enough of because IKEA, but this is in joys, not rants, because it's working fine now, and I've done a test run with some towels and will go about to clean some clothes too, because clothes are so much nicer when they're clean.

And in a way, the earlier adversity between washing machine and I has only brought us closer together I think.

I survived the flat-ironing process with no burns or additional psychological trauma! And I have way more hair than I thought I did.

... I forgot how hot extra hair on your scalp can be though.

Yesterday was a bit different dancing night, but in a goodway.
As part of a dancing competition taking place this week, some very well known international dancing artist are taking place in it as judges. So during thier visit here, they came to also visit my usual dancing studio. As part of the bachata dance competition segment, the famous dance couple "Ataca Jorgie y Tanja La Alemana" came to the bachata room to just get a feel for the scene here and dance a bit (they are the judges for the bachata segment of the contest). So I ended up dancing with Tanja for like 10 seconds, but that actually wasn't the highlight for me.

The highlight came later, when I had the nerve to approach and Tanja and I just told her that I wanted to thank her and Jorgie as it was thier video on youtube that I first saw bachata for the first time and that made me discover this dance and thus transforming my life for the better. She was so touched by my words she willingly *hugged me*... comes to show just how down to earth these people are, despite being one of the most super famous dancing couples there are.

Also, despite the air conditioner failing once again in the room, I had some awesome dances regardless of meeting these two, so it was definetly a night to remember Grin

I think I've mentioned before I'm trying to write a Not So Safe For Work novel, and I've been worrying about the point when I'd have to get someone else to look at it... preferably someone with more inside knowledge of women's bodies than me. Because... it can be a little embarassing to ask someone about that. But today I ran across someone I know, talked about my project, and she not only said she'd read it if it came out, she sounded quite enthusiastic about it! So I hinted that I might ask her to look at it when I get to that point, and she sounded enthusiastic about that too... which means one small worry that's been nagging at me appears to be working out.

He's possibly the softest thing in the universe, and he'd love the petting. He had a rough start - mauled by a dog, then a long recovery in a foster with many other animals - so he's been clinging since he was dropped off. His sister isn't so pleased to learn she's no longer an only child and is sulking, but I think she'll be better over the next couple of days once she gets used to a new smell.

New friend!

Well, penpal.

Friendly penpal.

I'm pretty sure until recently-ish I would've considered this a waste of time. I've definitely called it that. Here, even. I didn't join OkCupid to look for friends. Figured I already had enough friends. Too many, maybe.

But maybe it was just too many friends who all "fill the same need". Turns out different friends can fill different needs. Is that on the GSF list? Probably should be.

Lacking an actual other experience to compare this to, I would relate the feeling to that of a teenager in the Time Before Personal Computers, spending an hour each night on the phone. Except, I'm thinking out what I want to say and typing it out very carefully. Details.

There's a dozen reasons this is unlikely to turn "serious". I don't think I'm getting my hopes up. I hope I'm not getting my hopes up. It's nice, all the same.
