You should have taken our rain during Pride, too, though!

I found Ramune candies at the store. They kind of do taste like friendship!

So... I just signed the official contract on a dream job. The kind of insanely relevant niche job I went to grad school for, in the remote hopes of building the contacts/networking to have a shot at, but never expected it to actually happen. But here it is, happening. Shocked

I also just moved into an actual house, and got a grant to go do some community-development work in my research village, and had another big book chapter come out, and still can't quite believe this is my life.

It feels really weird to have everything go so right all at once, but I also feel like I am in a Disney movie where bluebirds tie ribbons in my hair and Mr. Sun winks down at me, like I am walking in a soft pink bubble.

So last week I somehow lucked out into going to a small geek event with a completely unknown group of geeks because of a dude from the RPG forum I've been trolling for group. And it was pretty nice! Lotsa looking at people fight with foam weapons, a couple armored people, got to play a MtG booster draft for a third of the usual price, got to observe what it looks like when exes don't absolutely hate each other, and somehow seem to be in talks for making my own foam weapon. I'd probably prioritize going back to Karate once I'm done with November exams, but I guess it could be an ocassional pastime now and then.

My friend called me after I texted her about feeling anxious and she walked me through how to cook dal (Indian lentil/onion/garlic thingie) and I didn't have black mustard seeds and I didn't put enough water in but it turned out OK, I think.

And then she said she loved me and that the next time I visited she'd help me cook a bunch of gluten free meals and that I could text anytime and then ya boi tried damn hard to hold back tears once she hung up.

But like happy tears, for once.

That sounds great!

As for me, I finally got to try tabletop roleplaying at a geeky event in my city! It was mostly great, and I hit it off with one of the players and the Master, so there's a possibility of having a group in the near future.

So a couple days ago I found out about the paid EU internship of my dreams. I seem to meet most requirements and my parents are already trying to figure out how to upgrade my french. I'm nervous as hell and the competition will be fierce, but if it works out It's going to be an incredible push for my career!! I haven't been this excited in years!

I send my application tomorrow, there are a couple things I want to run through my parents first. Wish me luck!!

Update: Application sent. Confirmation auto-email received. Currently working through the paranoia about having copy-pasted wrong the info about my computer skills, my last job or my motivations from the outside document where I first wrote them, since I had to restart the online application webpage after I had filled everything and I refilled it again a bit hastily. But I'm sure that I did it right and now I'm thinking I revised it before clicking that damn "submit" button!

And If I don't get it, there's two more rounds of the same internship! I'll see you soon, Luxembourg!

This week was a week of good news for me. My friend returned from another city after a month of absence. That evening was just awesome, one of the best moments of my life. I also showed good results at work and my boss said she gonna increase my salary next month. The last thing is that we finally got rid of those termites in our basement (I had to handle by myself using these tips because I don't have much money to call an exterminator). I have a good feeling for the next week, think it's gonna be lucky for me too.

I am (probably) going to be a father later this year. Grin

The clump of matter that could eventually become a child is currently about the size of a spring radish, but it'll be the size of a winter radish before the winter is out.

Congratulations to nearly_takuan, as well as wife and nearly_raddish.

I had a conversation today that might possibly eventually lead to something cool.
