One of the best albums of the 80s, in my humble opinion.

Both these tracks, Childhood's End? and White Feather encapsulate a lot of of sentiments that I relate to a lot these days.

A funk/jazz cover of Also Sprach Zarathustra from 2001: A Space Odyssey. It... is... awesome!

Funnily enough I first heard this Friday while having my teeth cleaned, and I immediately recognized the Also Aprach Zarathustra trumpets and had to look it up. I've been hooked!

Add another song to the potential first dance list.

I am absolutley addicted to some awesome electro-swing tracks by a band called "Tape Five". Look them up, you will not be dissapointed:

Love this song. Top of the melancholy falsetto pop heap.

^ So, like, oh em gee, they totally get me. The Antlers are like totally my favorite band now. (Even though I've only closely listened to a few of their songs, and only somewhat recently, after someone pointed out a sign indicating that they were touring here.) But also: new dilemma! I must grow out my bangs, but then I must decide whether to wet/gel them down so they hang in front of one eye, or keep 'em trimmed to exactly the length where my semi-curly hapa hair resembles...well, antlers.

But seriously: time to make a new Spotify playlist. That one's going alongside a certain Paul Simon song.

By sheer coincidence, the last song that played on my drive home was also a Paul Simon song:

MapWater, does this count as prog?

Regardless, opening is the sexiest guitar sequence I've ever heard in my whole entire life.

Mew does certainly dip their toes in the genre. This track is quite proggy, but the line between 'art rock' and 'prog rock' is often blurred these days. I'd err on the side of prog, (well, 'neo-prog' if we're getting pedantic) but you'll have others say it's art rock.

But, short answer is that it counts, yeah. Pretty good track too, been meaning to look into Mew.

Err, this isn't prog. All I will say is that chickens make good instruments! Laughing

Ahhh, thanks. Been puzzling over this review of their new album--is it prog? Is it not? What is prog, even? I'm not very good at Name That Genre. Razz

Favorite band since high school! Hit me up if you end up liking them and want to co-enthuse and/or argue over which albums are better. Grin

So there was a bug on the youtuberepeat site that meant any video longer than a certain length would fail to play all the way through on the third play since the last time the page was loaded or refreshed. It appears, however, that the bug is gone, which means I can listen to this without having to pop back over to the tab and hit F5.

To be honest this is just about the only boss fight music in the entire Spyro franchise that I consider memorable. But damn that part at 0:45 is awesome!

I can see where the confusion comes in, then! Honestly, there's so much crossover between prog, art, indie and alt rock these days that a lot of bands can qualify for all four easily. It's a real mess. And the first two of those four are 'uncool' even to the bands a lot of the time even when they qualify.

I will! I'll give some albums a spin and see where it goes.

The Super Smash bros for WiiU/3DS theme is a go to of mine recently. While this is the primary version - I really love the fact that there are so many variations of it throughout the game itself. I find it inspiring and gives me hope for when I'm feeling down about dating or about the fact that I'm lazy with searching for a job and more. It's just so epic and energetic and hopefull and fun filled.
This is also why I love this game so much - it's about fun. Period. That's also why I hate the Mortal Kombat games, especially the newer ones - who focus on the extremley graphic violence and that is thier main message - not the fun of the game. But that's just me and my hypocritic brain - because I absolutley LOVE "Shadow of Mordor", an also extremley violent game.... but I digress Loopy

The Omen by Jay Farkasember - couldn't find it on YouTube.

Has a folk feel to it, which is probably as well since I heard it in a game about a space cowgirl and her alien lover. The song itself doesn't seem to have anything to do with the plot of the game. It's just a nice song with pretty tight vocal harmony, some nice guitar playing and some weird lyrics that kinda make sense in their own weird little way.

Quite often this song comes on when I'm feeling really upset and has the effect of making me feel happy, melancholic, and sometimes almost like crying. Somehow I'm okay with that.

I once heard this song in an episode of The Simpsons, it made me cry as much as 'Jurassic Bark' did and I love it for that. Smile
