Haircut references? Empty Haircut references?

Post by Enail Sat Aug 22, 2015 6:22 pm

So, those of you who were on the old forum may remember I had plans to get a real haircut, as opposed to just telling my hairdresser "just make it shorter somehow." And, er, I still haven't done it Disapproving  Mostly because whenever I try to look at hairstyles, I land up getting so frustrated and confused by the fact that the photos never just show you the haircut, they show you the haircut, plus elaborate styling by a professional hairdresser, shot at an awkward angle, often plus weird wind machine effects or some such, so you have no idea what the haircut actually involves, let alone if it would be likely to work on your type of hair.

Are there any sites where you can find pictures of unstyled haircuts? Or at least only lightly styled, such that it's within the grasp of mortals if not me specifically? Or ones that show the same haircut from front, back and side? Maybe even that tell you about the hair type of the person you're seeing it on? Google is finding me nothing.

Or if there aren't whole sites like that, even just regular peoples' blogs that show their haircuts relatively untouched? Like, even just links to a few clear selfies from random women with medium-to-very short haircuts and wavy-to-curly hair who are not that great at hairstyling would be helpful at this point.

Haircut references? Empty Re: Haircut references?

My google search is showing me that lots of people also want what you're looking for, but options are limited. So far I've found:

-people's pintrests

-These 30 medium and 35 short lists do at least show multiple views of the hair and some styling instructions (which all seem to involve product). There's a ton of other articles on the website as well.

-Real Simple has a 6 slide click through where you can click at a particular style for additional images of the hair cut and recommended styling products.

-This link has haircuts on celebs by face shape with some discussion of hair type, but it also has a quite a few 'fail' pictures that I found really off-putting and there doesn't seem to be multiple angles.

If you haven't tried it yet "low maintenance short hairstyles for <curly/wavy/straight> hair" brought up quite a few results on google--still a lot of sifting through links, but if there's a consistent name to a hair style you like you might be able to find more pictures. Tumblr probably has a lot of what you're looking for, but so far I haven't really delved into that area yet.

Haircut references? Empty Re: Haircut references?

Ooh, thanks! I also just this second discovered haircvt.com, which has regular people's haircuts. They look right-from-the-hairdresser styled (ETA: Oh wait, only some of them do, many of them look totally regular person styled!), but it's still a little easier to tell what's what than with fashion model-type photos.
