I had to look it up, turns out it was the movie But I'm a Cheerleader. I was sure it was Boys Don't Cry originally, I was way off!

Sheep are much faster and dumber than they look and shepherding is pretty much the hardest job I have ever attempted.

"Mixed breed cat with a medium but thick coat." "This kitten hit his growth spurt early, but we think this is as big as he'll get."
Call it what it is, Animal Shelter. You have a teenage Maine Coon on your hands. Lots of people like them, and with truth in advertising, I'm guessing you'd find him a home. With your description, you're just going to end up with a family puzzled and annoyed at their 20-pound cat.
Also, we should probably have a talk about that "black lab" on your list after this.

When I was in my 20s, I could pull all nighters in college and grad school. When I was in my 30s, I could make it on 5 hours of sleep a night when I had to to get paper-grading done. In my 40s, 5 hours of sleep because the baby is having a cranky night is much harder.

Put me in the daycare with just about anyone, and all who observe will easily see that we "don't seem to like each other very much." How? Why? What does this mean?

Re: Random Thoughts: The Randoming
I'm glad I found this comment:
"To be perfectly honest, other than the first few scenes of Wolverine in the first X Men film, I've been pretty unconvinced by Jackman.
Wolverine is a tamed thug. He's ultimately a selfish, brutish man who has some sympathy for what Charles Xavier is trying to do. An unwilling X Man if you will.
While this has been touched upon in the X Men movies, really they've not had a decent stab at it and Jackman doesn't appear to be able to get nasty enough for the character to be fully realised.
Wolverine should scare the bejesus out of everyone, including those on his side. And yet, rather than the unstable beast of the comics, he comes across as a cross between a moody teenager and a grumpy old man."

I dig it. I've seen the Batfleck suit at San Diego Comic Con twice and this year the armored bat suit from the trailer was there too.

The boxing up phase of moving is perhaps better left unobserved. "You're throwing away the Corningware that's still in the box? I know it was your wife's registery item, but are you sure you won't want that at some point?" is probably not a helpful comment.

Say you have a hypothetical planet where the surface of the northern hemisphere is entirely land while the surface of the southern hemisphere is entirely water. Does the planet consist of one massive ocean with a huge island in it or one massive continent with a huge lake in it?

Is it terrible that I read the sex offender noticed the country sends out when someone on the registry moves into my area and think, "nope, I am not his (thus far all men) type. No risk here"? Probably

You can answer this question by looking at the tectonic plates! I don't want to come off like I'm trying to make your question seem less clever, but planetary science is fascinating.Robjection wrote:Say you have a hypothetical planet where the surface of the northern hemisphere is entirely land while the surface of the southern hemisphere is entirely water. Re: Random Thoughts: The Randoming
I read a mass market romance novel with no sex scenes. The heroine and hero had sex, twice, but the scenes were just skipped over completely.
It was such a jarringly odd tone shift for a romance novel.

Re: Random Thoughts: The Randoming
When Skyping with my 2-year-old niece:
"Wat dat?"
"That's me. Aunt Eselle."
*points more specifically* "Wat dat?"
"My t-shirt? That's my shirt. It's green!"
*points again* "Wat dat?"
"Words? Writing? My shirt has words on it."
Thankfully, my sister then came back in the room and alerted me that while my niece isn't anywhere near reading, she knows what letters are and likes to ask what they say if she sees them. Apparently "Paddy's Irish Pub" is a perfectly sufficient answer and doesn't lead to questions about what those words might mean yet. Note to self: don't wear anything related to It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia if planning to Skype sister.

For me it's jarring when the explicit sex shows up (and worse when there's dialog so have to at least skim the passages for relevant character/plot details). If I'm in the mood for sex I know where to find stuff that appeals to me, and if I'm not in the mood I really don't want to read the scene.
Why do guys rarely sit next to eachother on public transportation? It seems that when there's a completely open bench and a half-filled bench guy A will sit in the open one and guy B will sit next to me. It's not sexual--they'll either be silent or talk to eachother--maybe they're just looking for the largest available space?

I'm not a big fan of really explicit sex in romance novels. I often skim the sex parts, but this book had none at all. Literally, it went like this:
"They turned toward each other."
"Later...." and off to talk about post-sex events.
But I've never encountered a mass market romance novel that didn't have sex in it before, so I didn't even know such things existed.

I'm assuming that threat perception has something to do with it. Maybe.

Oh, sorry, I meant two guys who know eachother--this weekend the people in question were on the same rugby team in one case and had gone to see a performance together in another--didn't make that clear though. Was just annoyed that I (and my bag) kept being smooshed into the window--which likely answers my question, friends don't smoosh friends into windows.

Huh. That is really strange. Even with YA stuff they usually seem to have more of a gradual fade to black--that seems like the whole scene got guillotined.

The only thing sadder than orphaned burns are burned orphans. It's frustrating to have a snide retort and zero legit opportunity to use it.
