Re: Fall Anime 2020
GOLDEN KAMUY GOLDEN KAMUY GOLDEN KAMUY!
There's no other strong contenders, but a lot that if they were unexpectedly good could be good. Which is obvious, but this batch has a lot of descriptions that don't tell you much, so I feel like the ones I had no interest in at all from the info it gave are just as likely to be good as the ones that did catch my attention a little bit, which I mostly suspect won't turn out to be anything I'll like.
-Jujutsu Kaisen seems like there might be some potential, but it's probably going to turn out too shounen for me
-Noblesse could be amusing but likely to be the kind of thing where I hate all the characters
-Yuukoku no Moriarty, using class struggle to reframe it into Moriarty being the hero could be a cool take, but I'm suspicious if there's actually anything in the stories that lends itself to that and if it's not well-grounded could land up just having the Sherlock Holmes elements be irritatingly dropped in (I'm not a Sherlock Holmes purist, but shows that use classics in cheap ways tend to be, well, cheap, imo)
-100 Man no Inochi... if it was good I might like it, but I think it's way more likely to be another one of those tropey wish-fulfillment isekai shows
I probably won't bother watching anything other than Golden Kamuy unless you've got a rec.

Re: Fall Anime 2020
Jujutsu Kaisen's first ep is out (it's probably a sneak-preview thing, it's supposed to come out in a week and a half). Really well animated, I liked the freaky monsters and the premise. First ep was really basic shonen (coincidentally, it reminds me of Bleach)

It's an adaptation of the 1990s manga/remake of the 1990s anime, which I think was just a story based on the world/concepts of DQ and not an actual adaptation of any of the games.

Re: Fall Anime 2020
Hrmmm, Netflix dropped a whole season of Dragon's Dogma, which was a video game that I meant to play but haven't and I guess they anime'd it, and it's in the style of the second and third season's Berserk but with those techniques moved farther along. I'm not gonna binge-watch it but I think I'll try watching one per week to see if it's worth going through

Re: Fall Anime 2020
Mannnn, anime's all "give us 3 eps to get going" and this season I'm super impatient and all "You've got 10 seconds of me skipping through the first episode to show me something."
So far, Moriarty The Patriot's the only thing that's outright grabbed me (only partway through the first episode so it might still let me go). Jujutsu Kaisen is okay and the first episode of Dragon Quest dropped today so I'll get around to it tonight.
I also watched the first episode of the Tite Kubo's three ep Burn The Witch (it's actually a movie and they just chopped it up into 3 episodes to release here). I don't know how this is supposed to be set in the Bleach universe (the set-up itself is very Bleach-like, but it looks and acts nothing like it), but it apparently is. It's okay but not as cool looking or edgy as Bleach, it's more like a mash-up of Bleach whenever the characters are at high school, and Harry Potter magic (though there was a group of characters that looked more Bleach-like). I'll watch the other two eps at least.

My lists have been pretty light the last few seasons

Ooh, I'd been wondering when Attack on Titan would be back. Looking forward to it.

I'm 10 minutes Akudama Drive and it's cool as fuck. Moody cyberpunk aesthetic, stylish as hell, pretty much Cyberpunk 2077 + Suicide Squad I guess. It's not like story-deep or feels-emotions but I'd still recommend watching the first episode for fun (it probably doesn't have enough to justify watching the rest of it for most people tho)

Re: Fall Anime 2020
Adachi and Shimamura is chill as fuck but with low-key feels too. There's a little March Lion in how they visually portray some of those explanations of feels. It's about two delinquent girls having a secret "friendship" (it's listed as yuri) while skipping school and playing ping pong and talking about the weird kid who wears an astronaut suit down by the fishing hole.

Re: Fall Anime 2020
"Japanese history was fine, but I don't think I understand math anymore."
"If you give me one of those donuts, I'll reveal one of the secrets of the universe!"
Adachi and Shimamura might be the best anime of the season, even without all the lewdness (acks the lewdness is a little too intrusive sometimes, which it's rare for me to ask for a little less from a series)

I dropped Moriarty the Patriot. I like the sound effects and when it gets to the evil parts but the build-up takes too long. I'm getting close to dropping Akudama Drive, the cool parts of it were underplayed the last few episodes, but the fight scene in the last episode was fun so I dunno.
Dragon's Dogma is also not a weekly but a Netflix mass-drop, so I should be able to finish that one soon. It's kind of the outer trappings of the last season of Berserk, with better 2.5D animation techniques, but not nearly the story quality (partially because it's based on a video game). I like the fantasy combat but not as much else about it.
