Thinking about starting an Oscar pool for the site, with signature flair for the winners. Would anyone be interested?

I'll do it if there's a big enough crowd.

I've seen precisely one movie in the last year, so I'm not going to participate, but I'm happy to offer up titles to the winners (appears below your name and avatar, where the mods show what kind of mods they are), if you'd like that rather than/as well as a signature.  We can do that for any other forum contests or awards if people want too.

My vote goes to Whiplash. Everyone everywhere needs to see that one, pronto.

Well see there's what one wants to win, and what will win. I've become quite good at this game since I started playing it coldly and dispassionately. Plus I always work to see all the best pic nominated films and acting/writing categories, so I'm pretty familiar with the movies up for nomination. So I'm game to play Smile .

Whiplash was great, I agree. At the end of the film I just started laughing in a kind of unhinged way because I'd spent the whole film barely breathing. But for me my favourite film of the year was hands down The Grand Budapest Hotel. Already a huge Wes Anderson fan, but this movie took it to another level. Just saw Selma tonight though, and I've got to agree with the general frustration surrounding the film's lack of nominations. It's an important film I think everyone needs to see. Okay okay, I won't continue with these mini-reviews. I could talk about movies all night! Smile But yeah, point is, I'll play!

I've got the form almost done, probably going to launch it by the end of this week. Put simply, I'll give more points for the more prestigious categories.
