The Democrats have introduced the Making Access Records Available to Lead American Government Openness Act.

USA Today reports:

The legislation would require the publication of White House visitor logs, something that was done regularly by the Obama administration but has since ended since President Trump took office. It would also mandate the release of visitor logs at other locations where the president conducts business.

This fucking country. It's hard to believe we've come to this.

It is. And I'm a person who believed in American Exceptionalism. I always believed were not just a force but THE force for right in to world. That we had our faults, but were moving past them (an attitude steeped in privilege, I now know). And we're not. We can't be be. We cannot be a force for good in the world when we deny our own citizens a right to the Life we claim to advocate in the Declaration of Independence when that right to life is applied only to the unborn and not the born and alive and in need of assistance.

Our country is seriously, seriously fucked up.

But the funny/sad thing is? I can breathe for a day or two. Healthcare is the issue I have to and have put all my emotional and psychological energy and spoons into. And we won.

There are many other issues to be concerned about and fight for.

But for today, we and people who care about other people not-rich and not-like-them won.

When discussing Syria, our president's press secretary claimed that not even Hitler used chemical weapons...and then corrected himself by saying that Hitler didn't use chemical weapons against his own people.

It took them I think 4 tries to get a statement that didn't have appalling implications.

I haven't been following this that closely, but please tell me someone pointed out that those gassed in the camps were his own people?

He was questioned about his initial statement, and then backtracked as he was making the correction. In the process, he also managed to use the phrase "Holocaust centers." There were some audible gasps from journalists at various points.

I'd like to say this is definitely something Melissa McCarthy should interpret, but I'm not sure it's something to be laughed at.

Turkey's located in a weird place. They're almost European but Europe doesn't want them because they're too Muslim, and they're almost Middle Eastern but they retain enough Europeaness that they go through phases of being secular too.

They're going through a Muslim phase, which means dictatorship

Much of Europe doesn't want them because of the Armenian genocide they refuse to acknowledge/apologize for.

North Korea's doing dictatorship pretty intensely without being Muslim. Muslim /= dictator.

Totally random, but you need to watch Jimmy Kimmel's monologue from Monday night:

Someone please confirm to me that I should watch this. I pretty much intensely dislike Jimmy Kimmel and think he's an asshole, but this story seems both bigger than me and relevant to my interests. (Enlightened self-interest is the only way I can manage bad new lately.)

Also, I'm pretty pissed right now and angry at anyone who doesn't have a chronic medical condition. This is prompted by A number 1 asshole from Alabama Mo Brooks who says we all have our conditions because we haven't "done things the right way" in our lives. Tell that to my 2 year old daughter and me when i was 4. Screw you, dude, and everyone who voted for you.

Man, yeah, Wondering, I wanted to punch things hearing about that even not being in the States;  knowing that he has the power to affect you directly must be so, so unbelievably infuriating.

The House passed their fucking repeal bill 217-213.

This bill with its amendments specifically targets people with pre-existing and chronic conditions. And be aware, pregnancy, addiction, and mental health care all count as pre-existing conditions.
