Have you ever met a famous person

I went to church with the presidential Clintons as a kid, but they weren’t able to be real interactive; I only talked to Bill one time.

Met Daniel Handler (Lemony Snicket) at a couple book signings. He was very kind.

The First Lady of Poland visited me when I was in the hospital as a kid as part of a charity tour, but a) I was apparently very rude to her and b) I don’t really remember it, so I don’t think that counts.

Never met anyone really famous, but if sightings in the wild count, I saw Kevin Bacon in a Starbucks once, which was only memorable because it makes 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon really easy.

I'm not sure if the Jian Ghomeshi stuff made it out of Canada, but if so, then him. I met him back when he was known only for being a member of a band I liked, but the memory and that band are kind of ruined for me now

Hmmmm...

Since I work in news, I get to meet some interesting characters. Which also includes famous (or semi-famous) people. So far, I’ve met Paul Rodriguez, Richard Kind, Heather Graham (who is absolutely beautiful in person), Patrick Stewart, Tia Carrere (who I also had a massive crush on growing up), my work had booked Henry “The Fonz” Winkler to appear on our morning show to promote his show Barry (I was thoroughly pissed off I didn’t get to meet him because I was being rushed out the door on assignment), I’ve met Gavin Newsom (CA’s lieutenant governor), Trevor Hoffman (MLB hall of famer), Philip Rivers (NFL quarterback), Maria Shriver (who is an absolute sweetheart), Bethany Hamliton and a few more I can’t remember off the top of my head.

This year at Comic-Con (it’s a hotbed for meeting and running into famous people), I ran into Brian Posehn and Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos together.

In years past, I ran into Doug Jones (the gentleman who played Abe Sapien in Hellboy, fantastic character actor), I met and got a pic with Kerry King of Slayer. Kirk Hammet of Metallica I met but he totally blew me off.

Yeah I’ve had a number of “famous” people run-ins.

Except for Kirk Hammet, they were all fairly polite people!

The current spanish Minister of External Affairs was in my "graduation" ceremony last May and I got to meet him and have a couple photos (of course, that was before he got the position).

She was very sweet and courteous to me and my reporter. Granted, they were doing the media carousel where they go down the line talking to the press about whatever, but she seemed like a genuinely awesome person. I know some celebs can be rude and snooty, but Heather Graham and Tia Carrere, 11/10 would invite them over for Christmas dinner.

Unfortunately no, it was the red carpet media carousel for a film festival in town, each person had a maximum of 5 minutes or so with each famous person/producer. I wasn’t able to get pictures with them unfortunately, otherwise I maybe woulda gotten one.

Very rarely do I like getting my picture taken with a “famous person”. Very rarely do I take even my own pictures, so for me personally, getting to meet this person or that person is good enough in its own right. I don’t need to document every single one of those encounters. Now, if I met President Obama, oh yeah, i’d get a picture with him. Otherwise, at the end of the day, they’re still people.

I’ve attended two Brandon Sanderson book signings, one G. Willow Wilson, and one Brian Michael Bendis, if those count. Never had the nerve to say anything though.

Oh, and a guy I sometimes go to trivia night with once had a roommate who used to date Lori Petty, so according to his logic it’s like I’m 4 degrees from Keanu Reeves.

I didn't meet him but apparently Aquaman/Khal Drogo/Jason Momoa was around here recently filming something for Apple TV. Him being in town is probably about as close to a famous person's general vicinity that I've been
