I'll sample a bit of everything but for now. It looks like Goblin Slayer started partway through last season/may already be mostly over even though it's listed here, so I'm gonna go back and try that I think

Hmm, there's a few things that sound somewhat interesting, but with Attack on Titan and Golden Kamuy already, there's nothing I'm super-motivated to try and keep up with off-hand unless you have a rec.

The stuff I might check out if I have time:

-Akanesasu Shoujo - I like the concept, the trailer looks decent enough from a sound-off glance, but the characters make me feel a little like they were designed by committee
-Ingress might be interesting, I guess it's based on the location-based phone game? A phone game doesn't sound like the most inspiring subject for a show, but it looks potentially cool
-Irozuku Sekai no Ashita Kara - as always, I'm a sucker for melancholy time travel
-Rerided - the description is kind of all over the place but potentially interesting
-SSSS Gridman's not usually my kind of thing, but it looks like it could be fun

Akanesasu Shoujo 01

I like the aesthetic (action sequence felt like an old-school video game) and "feel" of the show to watch another. Season's pretty packed so I dunno if it'll make it in or if it'll be good enough for me to make an exception for though. It unfolded a little slowly to rubber-stamp as a "gonna watch this one" but it also was showing some skill via showing and not telling/assuming you're intelligent enough to guess what's going on.

That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime 01

Was pretty fantastic

The first 5 mins was my kind of humour, and then the rest is a too-thought-out sorta serious/sorta parody of Japanese fantasy video games. Like someone thought too hard about what the life of a slime was like

The outro made it look like things would progress pretty far past the Slime business so I'm sure the series will be able to hold onto the charm/humour it showed in this first episode, but it's definitely on my shortlist to keep

Was expecting Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny-Girl Senpai to be some kind of ecchi comedy, but instead it was super-serious and kinda mysterious and has that "buried feelings might be manifesting supernaturally" thing that Boku Dake had but not the same kind of stakes it had. I'm intrigued enough to watch Episode 2 but the way the main character's voice actor is usually cast is for calm, low-energy roles that rarely ever get your heart beating so I'm unsure if it'll stick.

Wow, that is incredibly much not what I'd have expected from Rascal Does Not Dream..., it sounds right up my alley. I might check it out if I can look past the cheesy bunny girl/ecchi harem-comedy seeming-ness.

It's actually not ecchi-comedy at all. She wears the bunny girl costume to test out some weird effect she's noticed is happening to her.

Double Decker is kinda funny and pretty well animated for a sorta goofy buddy cop kind of thing.

This is getting bad, I'm already up to 8 maybes for 5 spots, and that's not counting checking out 8 more animes that come out today... and whatever else comes out tomorrow and the rest of the week

Goblin Slayer

I am way onboard. That was brutal as fuck, I saw that it was a fantasy but I didn't see that it was a dark fantasy. Gratuitous as fuck

-SSSS Gridman's not usually my kind of thing, but it looks like it could be fun

Just watched the first one, it's an anime adaptation of a tokusatsu/super sentai

Ulysses - Jeanne D'arc

Fuck, even this one got interesting. A mix of history and western european folklore/mythology, kind of has that Berserk thing going for it where the supernatural is real but not so real that everyone is aware of it (no demons yet, though)

The two things I really liked

From the looks the outro, they're not gonna be shy about battle cleavage or things of that nature, so

(I think I'm up to 23 anime that I have some interest in. My "max 15" list is crumbling quickly )

Double Decker 2

Irozuku Sekai no Ashita Kara was, as promised, very melancholy time travel, very pretty anime-Japan. The magic elements had an almost Ghibli-esque eerie/cute-ness, and the colour/b&w thing was cool. I found the storytelling felt a little choppy somehow, and the main character's flatness made it a bit hard to stay interested while they're slowly setting up the plot elements, but I think that'll work itself out once they get the story moving and set up some stakes, so overall pretty positive.

Only 11 minute episodes, perfect size for something like this

This one's kind of on the bubble for me. Even if I expand my list a little bit for this season there's still too much, and even though the atmosphere is lovely I'm not sure there's enough happening to keep it. I'll decide by the episode 3s

11. Bunnygirl because I've been watching it with people I know. I still might drop this but there's enough there to remain interested so far.

- Irozoku Sekai (Pro: ATMOSPHERE Con: Not sure if slow or if it's just a slice of life with not much story)
- Double Decker (Pro: Funny/entertaining Con: Sort of generic when it focuses on just the serious stuff)
- Akanesasu Shoujo (Pro: Nice battle style Con: Main characters and their alternate universe deal doesn't do a lot for me)
- Gaikotsu Shototenin Honda-San (Pro: Only 11 mins long and funny Con: How many laughs can you realistically create about working at a manga shop?)
- Ore Ga Suki (Pro: My kind of degeneracy Con: I've seen better anime about Light Novel writers)
- That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime (Pro: Creative "normal person reincarnated in another world" setting, the main character is reincarnated as one of the weakest monsters in generic JRPGs Con: The character's skillset is overpowered for comedic effect but I'm not sure there'll be much tension because of that, and also the novel part of the story, the character being a dinky little slime, may just be something at the beginning, the intro and outro indicates that it learns how to take a humanoid form and joins a party of adventures that feels like it may turn more generic)
- Ulysses: Jeanne D'arc (Pros: Was a cool combination of the 100 Years War and folk mythology Cons: Only watched one episode)

SSSS Gridman ep 2 got more interesting as it showed the consequences of the kaiju attack/how this world seems to work.

Rascal Does Not Dream of... was definitely not a harem comedy, but the characters felt a little too much like multiple romance paths in a game, which seems clumsy in a show, especially a serious one, and also meant some elements that I found pretty off-putting (

) But they were pretty minor, so that might be fine once it gets into the swing of being a tv show (assuming it was based on a game).

And also, why the FUCK does the main character have a friend with similar hair and eyes that are both like .02 degrees difference in colour from him?! Half the point of anime is that they colour code characters so you can clearly tell them apart, I don't want to have to use a Pantone colour guide to know which character's which!!

Concept's good, and they could do interesting things with it. I'll give the next episode a go.
