Washington, Oregon and California should join Canada .
On a less flippant note, I'm sorry. *hugs if they are needed*

Yes, cooling off sounds like a pretty good idea. Lord knows how many times I've written things while I was mad that didn't make sense afterwards.

I saw someone on the internet say that the Democrats look for a perfect candidate, but the Republicans don't care who they have as long as they can get elected because abortion.
And I agree. It was racism that vote FOR Trump and misogyny that voted AGAINST Clinton, but it was anti-choice that got Trump on the ballot to start.

This article came up on my facebook today and looks like it might be useful for people wanting to speak to their congressmen and women.

And Paul Ryan, who had said we will not register Muslims, will cave on it like the completely spineless jerk he's turning out to be.

Re: Politics and Current Events
Yup. The same man who has flat out admitted that Trump's actions/words are
"the definition of racism", and then went on to say that it was still more important that we not have Clinton's policies. He acknowledged that he was racist but *did not care enough* for it to deter his vote. You know, like a lot of the people that voted for him. Who will now potentially acknowledge that this idea is racist, or that Bannon is flat-out a white supremacist, just won't care enough to do anything but shrug.

Re: Politics and Current Events
I know this is way out of line but how is a Muslim registry any different than the Jewish people having to register in 1930s Germany?

That's exactly what's so concerning about it.

Re: Politics and Current Events
There were plenty of German's who voted for the Nazis in 1932 because they liked the economic and social policies, but thought the anti-Semitism a bit....boorish. Not enough to change the vote, mind you. Would not be surprised if something similar was going on here and now

Re: Politics and Current Events
And they'll make is sound different. You know, it's just a people-from-dangerous-places registry. Not a Muslim registry.
And that might be what makes it through the Supreme Court. Because it doesn't say it's targeting religion, even though the only dangerous countries will be Muslim ones.

And odds are they will include the Christians, Yazdi, Druze, etc from those countries, so it will not actually be just Muslims.

And so begins the control of the free press, and the press's complicity in it.

If the guy actually said that, CNN should put it up there so people know it, and know that "alt-right" is just Newspeak for Neo-Nazi.

Agreed but would you believe the Anti-Defamation League is also slamming CNN for even entertaining this thought.

Re: Politics and Current Events
So, I'm no Jill Stein fan (anti-vaxxer!), but apparently, she's challenging the election results in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania because as a candidate, she has standing to do so. And Clinton doesn't appear to be willing to (for many legitimate reasons, no doubt) despite a bunch of hinky looking stuff in those states. This is a call for a recount, basically. Of the paper trail of machine votes.
They need $2 million to do this. If you're so inclined, you can donate. Deadline for Wisconsin is Friday.

I'm wondering if Canada is prepared for the refugee crisis they may be faced with if Muslims, Jews, queer folk, and other persecuted groups have to start fleeing America.

Historically, people absolutely will if things get bad enough, so it's more a question of how bad things will get.

Re: Politics and Current Events
Wondering, Trump's silencing of the press and that relationship in general is perhaps the most terrifying bit to me. Because he could actually be out there encouraging hate crimes, etc., but we might never find out about it. Hopefully because of the internet media is so widespread that information will leak out.
Looks like they raised money for PA already...hopefully they can get the rest by Wed!
