I was wondering if you were a little busy, I'll skip watching the next episode this week so I don't get too far ahead

E6
- Spoiler:
-in the middle of a chase you can just whip out a teleport stone
-yep, inns were supposed to be totally safe
-he punches the wall and an "immortal object" sign pops up
-and the poor guy who's expecting to be next is cracking up, convinced it's a ghost, I love the way that shows the depth to which people have internalized the rules of the game as 'reality'
-food expires and disappears (that's kind of disappointing, I was thinking how great it would be to keep a hot bowl of soup in your inventory till whenever you happened to want it, even if you're out in a wilderness area or something)
-she can cook, if that's a normal game skill rather than a human ability, I'm surprised, given that they both thought it was so obvious that fighting-focused players like them wouldn't have learned Appraisal? I assumed that meant that either skills were limited by XP or slots based on levels or something, or at least that frontline floor-clearers were too driven to take time for side activities that might learn a skill (though, given that this game is a long-term thing, I'd think anyone that doesn't want to have a breakdown eventually would take up some kind of relaxing side activity, whether it uses game-skills or is just a regular human being activity)
-it was the armor being destroyed + the murdered guy teleporting away when it shattered, this is fucking awesome! Forget about clearing the levels, can we just have a slice-of-life/detective story from now on??
-how can Yolko have monitored the armor durability while talking? Sometimes it seems like they can only get info and access objects through physically opening the menu system, and sometimes it seems like not, and we've also seen that other people can see it when you open your own menus/info display, so it can't be just that they're not showing it when it's not from the perspective of the person using the menus because it's invisible to everyone else, so there's an element here to how game functions/info work that's not clear to me. Are there game display elements that are always-on but no one else can see them? Quickslots for items that don't require going through the menu?
-Glad that some guilds have worked out how to deal with high-quality drops in advance of having it happen, that could definitely destroy a guild. I sure as hell wouldn't join a guild where people didn't have a system that they seemed willing to keep
-marriage means inventory sharing!
-ohshit, Griselda's husband had her murdered to inherit the item, that's fucking cold for +10 agility. Like, sure, that's a highly desirable item, but murder-your-game-wife levels of desirable?!
-what's with that outfit?! It's saying something, but I have no fucking clue what (nothing good, though )
-HOLY FUCK, THEY WERE REAL-WORLD MARRIED!?
-And the reason he wanted to murder her was because she was tougher and cooler in the game while he was scared, that's zero-conscience levels of fucked up. (That said, I could definitely see being trapped in a deadly a game as rough on marriages, given that people might react really differently to it and it's a high-stress situation, but he just leapt from 'my wife's more confident' to murder without even going through 'we fight a lot,' or 'she's meaner here,' let alone 'maybe we should break up!')
-"who would blame me for thinking that?" Uh, literally everyone?
-so, are they executing him, or what?
-"what would you feel if you got married and discovered another side of your wife" is a really dumb question, "another side" could mean "she's a badass in life-or-death situations" or "she's a sociopathic murderer." But I do have to give him that "lucky, because it's getting to know something else you'll love" is a fucking smooth answer.
-GRISELDA's GHOST!!! Holy fuck, that suggests that at least the creator is maintaining some kind of Unfinished Business-format appearance of dead players to try and instill a conscience or motivate people to deal with crimes or maybe even reassure grieving people or something, and could even mean they're still alive and he lets them appear briefly after their apparent death before logging off permanently.
-Dude, once you've solved a murder with a cute girl, you have to add them to your friend list, sorry, I don't make the rules

HOKAY, so I'm gonna use the thing just done where if you don't watch an episode for the week because too busy, I won't either so I don't get too far ahead.
My Ep 7 is the last post on the previous page just in case. Ep 8 resumes the main plot of the original novel
SAO S1 E8
My Ep 7 is the last post on the previous page just in case. Ep 8 resumes the main plot of the original novel
SAO S1 E8
- Spoiler:
- Playing the way Kirito does probably feels a lot like Dark Souls.
- Almost at the two year mark. The survivors have lost real time to the death game.
- Doh, Kirito kills a cute bunny
- Rare rabbit meat
- And just in time, a rare waifu with cooking skills
- Her smirk when she proudly reveals she maxed out the cooking skill last week
- "I'll let you have a bite." "HALF" Just fuck already, kids (oh right, they can't)
- Poor Agil
- "The Beater" Kirito's reputation
- God, the scenery on each individual level while still having a roof over top
- WAIFU WITH A CUTE APRON ALERT
- Cooking with video game skills looks so goofy, but it's also interesting that this is their life now, it's just how they automatically do things. If they ever get out, they would have to unlearn reaching for the menu system and having things happen automatically
- Being happy they survived long enough to eat an s-class ingredient
- There it is. They're getting so used to the VR world that they're thinking about the real world less, the VR world feels more natural. The Clearing Group and people trying to join it are somewhat dwindling, because they're just getting used to the idea that this is life now, and there's more to "life" in this world than obsessively trying to clear it.
- 500 people in the clearing group out of like, what 8000 left?
- "Stop right there, I know you're gonna try to marry me now." Self-aware waifus
- "Party with me." Nerd way of asking someone out on a d-d-d-d-d-date-oh
- Oh, I guess sexual harrassment is still possible with VR boob-grabs
- Using protection orders as an impetus to stalk
- Sinister hooded person in the background
- This fucking duel music
- Sinister hood with a Laughing Coffin tattoo
- The stifling atmosphere of the Clearing Party that Kirito originally mentioned when he joined the Cats guild is now being noticed by Asuna as she starts to get more acclimatized to the VR world.
- Dungeon musicccc
- Kirito in turn noticing that having a skilled player with him actually doesn't slow him down
- Maybe don't open the boss door

Re: Sword Art Online Anime [Half Recommendation... but some of it is Full Recommendation]
E7
- Spoiler:
-what an adorable little house
-oh good, we're going to get to see more of crafting/the non-fighting life
-photo of her with a party that possibly the rest of them are all dead
-blacksmithing looks so boring just hitting the hammer on the metal a few times and then it turns into a sword, it seems like it wouldn't have any of that physical feel of doing things with your hands and your own skills and making something happen, and it seems pretty basic compared to fighting (which I find true of real videogame crafting, too, it's just never as entertaining as fighting)
-she thinks he looks like he can't afford it, what are the other top fighters wearing? And actually, why is what he's wearing so similar to the armour he got on the first level, is there a way to upgrade special armours or is he just rejecting everything that doesn't match his style or what?
-he just destroyed her best merchandise (but, if she's so good, and she's heard of his weapon, surely she'd have some ability to tell that the sword she made wasn't on par with it?)
-they can feel cold? And there's warm armour items. And of course he's too cool to get cold
-I spent the longest time wondering what that mysterious thing floating in the sky that they keep showing but the characters are weirdly ignoring was, and then I realized there was a crumb on my screen
-oh look, it's a "let's show how awesome Kirito is" scene, how thrilling
-they have sleeping bags! Is there a game benefit to sleeping? Is it safe to sleep in the open if you use a sleeping bag?? TELL ME ABOUT SLEEPING, DAMN YOU!
-living in situations that you'd never get in the real world
-holding hands in sleeping-bags is maximum level cosiness
-DRAGON POOP SWORD!!
-it's annoying how useless everyone Kirito does anything with is other than Asuna, it's basically all him metaphorically or literally hauling around cute girls like sacks of potatoes, because he might not look as cool if he spent lots of time around other competent people
-the bright, cold sunrise over the snow-covered mountains while they're flying in the air from being launched off a dragon's back
-"I'll make a fantastic sword and then I'll confess my love to this person I've known for 24 hours," anime characters are so dramatic, it can't just be "he's cute, I'll ask him out."
-She wants to be his exclusive blacksmith, I guess she wants to be the only one to handle his sword
-Blacksmith realizes he bickers more with Asuna than with her, and of course everyone knows bickering is the only test of true love and no one ever argues with someone they don't have the undying hots for (whereas IRL, when a couple's constantly bickering like that and they think "ha ha, we're just like an old married couple," usually it means a breakup's coming, ime, and the only two non-couple people I've ever seen that did that IRL to the point where people were joking about them being secretly in love with each other, just never landed up getting along particularly and there was absolutely no sexual tension and the guy was gay anyway)
-again the photo
-Aw, he should have come later so she could have been back to being cheerful instead of crying, she's so cute
-she didn't win his heart but she made him realize he wants to live for livings' sake and she got to feel something realif you know what I mean(and at least she still gets to handle his sword)
- Spoiler:
- There's a meme that goes like Lisbeth saying "Kirito, I love you!" and Kirito responds "I love me too!" with his outstretched hand

Re: Sword Art Online Anime [Half Recommendation... but some of it is Full Recommendation]
S1 E9
- Spoiler:
- Good call on the running thing, guys
- Asuna questioning why Kirito doesn't use a shield
- Asking about skills is impolite
- Kirito reacting like I would finding out that Asuna made a handmade lunch
- Asuna is such a fucking nerd that she figured out how to combine the various fantasy world ingredients to simulate real-world tastes
- Kirito's face at the soy sauce
- And he doesn't want Asuna to sell it and become super-rich because then he loses "his portion"
- Klein-kun
- Klein tries to pick up Asuna, Kirito KO's him immediately
- I think it might've just been a joke, but the "lag" thing did have me wondering if players would experience lag in-game even in the death game, because they are still basically on the internet
- And the fucking Klein-gang are all Asuna faboys holy shit
- A guild that suffered major losses and had to pull out of clearing just to focus on leveling and strengthening themselves
- "Aincrad Liberation Army" Aight that's kind of a cool guild name tbh
- Kirito still having issues with people guild-wiping, so he'll keep an eye on them
- And now he's having flashbacks to the Black Cats massacre because this boss room plays the same way as the trap that killed them
- I originally thought that the guild-leader having that moment with Kirito before dying was a moment of IRL recognition from somewhere, but it ends up not being one
- That fucking music when Asuna charges in
- God, just imagine fighting something with an HP bar. Like you know when the rate is going down too quickly and you're gonna die if it keeps going like that
- MOTHER
- FUCKING
- DUAL WIELD
- HIS FUCKING HP BAR HAS A SMALL SLIVER OF A CORNER LEFT
- "If you hug too tightly, my HP will go down" BOOOOOO
- Unique skills
- He kept it to himself because it could make him a target
- I guess we're far enough in it that I can mention one of my theories: Despite all his "GIRLFRIEND" stuff, it feels like Klein is also part of Kirito's waifu harem
- Kirito has to hang out with Agil now because he's getting followed everywhere by Information Brokers and Swordsmen
- Eyyyyy Heathcliff
- "Despite being the top guild, our strength is barely sufficient." Death game is pretty rough
- Heathcliff: Awriiiight, duel for love, Kirito: If you win, you get Asuna's love, if you lose, you get MY love [Evil laughter]

E8
- Spoiler:
-that background is completely gorgeous with all the black-and-white trees
-two years, damn
-the meat's so rare he needs a high-level cook
-grabbing her hands and going "Chef captured," that was cute
-you can max out your cooking skill only 75% of the way to the end of the game? That seems disappointing
-"I'll write you an 800 word essay on how good it was," COLD
-she has a guild guy just follow her around till she dismisses him, what the hell?
-forehead guild servant guy is suspicious of Kirito (coming from a guy old enough to have wrinkles following around a teenage girl)
-why wouldn't he have enough money to afford a place like this, surely he'd be taking in a similar amount to Asuna. Unless you get money from being part of a successful guild, I guess.
-once they became a big guild with the reputation as the best, it started having lots of rules and stopped being fun
-what the hell kind of outfit is that? A puffy strapless dress over a shirt and skirt? This is not how people dress themselves! I guess videogame clothing rules apply
-people change into casual clothes in houses
-tap the ingredients with the knife and they chop neatly into nice, small pieces
-cooking is so simplified it's boring, that's what I was thinking about the blacksmithing, too. Thinking about it, that would be a really depressing thing in the world you live in, where only fighting and skills/activities that you make up yourself outside of the game design would have any depth.
-wow, two top-level fighters in two years haven't had an S-rank food before?! If that has a real impact on tastiness like they're implying, does that mean that most people are eating pretty sad, tasteless food and almost no one's eaten something really delicious for two years???
-they're starting to forget the real world and feel like they've always lived here, and fewer people are even trying to clear the game and escape
-teasing him that he looks like he's about to propose marriage
-irregularities in monster behaviour increasing, it's getting more dangerous to play solo, things are feeling both slowly more dreary and more dangerous at the same time as the idea that this is scary or abnormal is fading
-"party members tend to get in my way more often than not" Kirito, that's because you just team up with any cute girl with colourful hair, without asking about her skill level, what do you expect's going to happen?!
-she threatens him with a butter knife
-team-up "for old time's sake"
-it takes him like 8 squeezes to realize it's her boob, has he never been in an anime before?
-I like the way "immortal object" signs just pop up for comedy purposes all the time
-yup, guild follower guy's totally a controlling creeper. Might be time to quit this guild.
-it turns out cute blacksmith makes a good sword
-was that the Laughing Coffin symbol? He's totally going to kill the guild guy and pin it on Kirito (also, it's a pretty dumb-looking logo)
-she's kicking the crap out of monsters and he's just standing there being like "this is what love feels like"
-Oops, they're totally going to take on the boss monster solo

Re: Sword Art Online Anime [Half Recommendation... but some of it is Full Recommendation]
E10
- Spoiler:
- Eyyyyy Heathcliff
- I like how they can sell seats even in an MMO to a big duel
- Heathcliff's HP has never dropped to the yellow zone, dude's pretty overpowered
- Forgot how hype this duel was, I remember it being shorter
- OH MAN KIRITO SLICED HIM
- Heathcliff with the hacks
- Asuna being satisfied with the his Knights of the Blood costume <3
- Finally telling someone about the Black Cats
- Kirito can't bring his hand up to return the hug
- Asuna letting Godfree know that Kirito would wipe the floor with him
- Good guy, Godfree, trying to make Kirito and Kuradeel make up
- I would never give up my teleport crystals for anything in this world
- Oh okay, they're on the 75th floor but clearing a 55th floor dungeon, so there's not much expectation of them being in real danger, I sort of never caught/forgot why so few people were on a clearing mission
- That feel when you'll never eat one of Asuna's sandwiches as she says "AHHHHHHH~N"
- Level 96
- Paralysis potion, that prick
- Slowly hacking away at Godfree, fuck
- RIP Godfree
- Laughing Coffin infiltrator
- Stabbing him and then digging the blade in back and forth
- Was ready to give up and then he thought of Asuna
- ASUNA 2D WAIFU TO THE RESCUE
- Asuna's so overpowered too
- She can't bring herself to kill someone
- HANDDD
- Annnnd Kirito just killed someone IRL
- Asuna feels guilty both because her hesitation led to Kirito becoming a killer and because the whole Kuradeel situation happened because of her
- Eyyy you can kiss in these games
- "I want to be with you tonight " in this case means "cook dinner for me and then we can look at eachother's undergarments"
- He just meant to sleep in her room, probably shoulda just let him die against Kuradeel
- "I dreamt a little. About the real world." FUCK
- Run away to the forest and get e-married, which at this point is real married

Re: Sword Art Online Anime [Half Recommendation... but some of it is Full Recommendation]
E9
- Spoiler:
-nope, they didn't just take on the boss solo, points for sensible, but so much for them being so cool and brave
-some people don't use shields because of their fashion sense
-he's so excited that she brought a home-made lunch, I wonder if he's still eating mostly crap like bread with cream, you'd think if he liked good food that much he could buy some from a good chef (though, I guess maybe this ties into whatever he's hiding about his skills and what he's doing with all his money)
-she figured out how different ingredients affect the VR taste simulator to make the flavours they've been missing MARRY HER
-Klein freaks out and introduces himself as looking for a girlfriend and then his entire party does the same
-But, if they're fighting this close to the frontline, and there are fewer than 500 people who do these days, surely they'd all already know each other at least to nod and wouldn't be stunned to meet her like that?
-an army reigning the 1st floor
-and they share all info and consider it everyone's duty to do the same, whereas Klein thinks that's outrageous. At the beginning it seemed like most people felt info should be shared (beta testers making info available free was considered a big point in their defence), but I guess at this point, no one who just wants to be safe has to go poking around on the frontlines, so it's more acceptable to keep things to yourself rather than morally having to share them for peoples' safety.
-Dumbass army party taking on the boss on their own while exhausted even though the norm seems to be to usually make massive preparations and have multiple parties team up for bosses. How did they survive this long with such a stupid leader??
-the first boss room to have an anti-teleport trap, and Kirito flashes back to his guild that got slaughtered
-Asuna screaming and running in to save them
-why is Kirito's health bar going down when he's just sword-locked with the boss? A breath weapon? Or they just thought the sword-to-sword struggle looked cool and didn't think about the fact that that shouldn't be damaging
-of course he has his unbelievable secret power that he's never even needed to reveal before now that's good enough to nearly single-handedly beat the boss (to be fair, if I was in a situation like this, I'd totally keep a few tricks up my sleeve that no one knows about if I could, too)
-oh, it's a self-damaging skill, at least that gives him a legit reason to have held back on it (but also gives him extra dramatic Gary Stu-ness)
-Aww, Asuna's crying b/c he almost got killed
-"if you squeeze me that tightly, my HP will run out" (but also, d-does that mean that his boob grab earlier was doing damage? )
-holy shit, they have normal skill lists and his skill is just a magical unique one that he just got for no apparent reason, this is an extra level of Mary Sue-ness (also, no fair, why is dual-wielding that rare and an hp-sacrificing skill, I don't want to not be able to dual-wield in the fantasy universe where I'm in this world unless I'm a Mary Sue! )
-"keep fighting, young 'un," Klein's taking up being a wise old mentor now
-oh no, I'm so angsty that I have this fantastic skill, whatever will I do
-Achievement unlocked: Made Klein Proud
-now he's famous and the tabloids are exaggerating his story
-oh ffs, the guild dueling him for her like she's a piece of armour, what are they going to do if she just doesn't show up to their fights, kill her? Ugh.

E10
- Spoiler:
-ohh, other people have over-the-top unique skills, that's a little less ridiculous then. (but if the creator's supposedly so fair, what on earth is he doing handing out these random game-breaking skills, that kind of sucks for regular average Joes)
-Gary Stu lost!
-he hates the over-decorated guild uniform (I wish they'd explain how guild armor works in terms of leveling/finding new armour etc)
-aww, telling her about his guild tragedy (but he was a solo player before that, so he's not giving her the whole story)
-taking his face in her hands and saying she's not going to die, she'll protect him
-and he almost reaches out his hand to her too but then doesn't
-and now he has to be treated as a guild newbie
-they both have such a gentle, warm tone in their voice when they're talking to each other, it's sweet
-Stalker apologizes to Kirito, but did he ever apologize to Asuna? Don't trust him!
-taking their teleport crystals?! This guild asks for a lot of trust!
-he pictures Asuna's delicious food instead of sad, grey ration-bread. You'd think upper-level people in the best guild would be able to get themselves decent food, so it seems almost patronizing to give out these sad rations
-POISONED! I knew it! That asshole!
-jeez, he went from kind of a douche to crazy-eyed, gleeful first-degree murder fast. How's he gonna explain his indicator colour change, though?
-Secret Laughing Coffin (I guess you can be part of more than one guild at a time?)
-he thinks of Sachi when he thinks he's going to die
-And then at the last minute Asuna appears like a whirlwind! BADASS WAIFU FTW
-The way she just advances on him and destroys him
-noooo, don't hesitate, kill himmm
-Kirito takes the blow- WHAT!??!? HIS ENTIRE FUCKING HAND. That can happen???1!?/ How's he going to dual-wield now
-and he kills him with the fire coming off where his hand used to be???
-she reaches for his remaining hand and then hesitates
-TRAUMA KISS
-"My life belongs to you," WHOA that relationship escalated fast
-oh, arms grow back. It's kind of a weird mechanic to allow cutting off and destroying a limb but then it's not permanent.
-I love the way she's just suddenly like "right, sex time!" (or whatever the virtual world where you can't take off your underwear equivalent of sex is)
-dramatically going through her menu to undress, romance in this world is hilarious
-tfw your bf said Netflix and chill and he just wanted to actually watch the movie
-moving in together and getting married?? This is like, second date plus they kind of worked together a few times, holy shit, slow down, kids!

Re: Sword Art Online Anime [Half Recommendation... but some of it is Full Recommendation]
- Spoiler:
"Just fuck already kids! "
"Wait wait Slow down SLOW DOWN KIDS WHOA"
One of the things that really grabbed me as the series goes on is how the characters start mentally juggling the drive to return to the real world while still living something resembling a life in the virtual world, especially because they could die tomorrow and this might just be their lives now. We went from a few episodes ago where Asuna is using NPCs as bait for bosses to Asuna wanting to pull away from the front lines with Kirito, and Kirito going from closing himself off to other people after suffering very real loss in this fake world to running away with someone else in the forest. Both of them high-level players with extensive reputations in combat even getting worn down from the grind of the death-game
Episode 11
- Spoiler:
- Heathcliff is awfully accommodating of this selfish request
- They went to live in a VR British Columbia
- And now contemplating if the VR relationship can even be real
- Asuna's worried about Kirito's real age
- Yeah, fun's overrated, stop having it
- She's worried about her husband turning around and seeing something (he tried to sneak a peek).
- People just hanging out, fishing
- Ghostsssss
- They're such kids
- Eyyyyyy ACTUAL GHOST RUN
- A player but no cursor
- Not a quest-giver, not an NPC, but not a player because otherwise a harassment notice would've popped up
- Asuna just has a thing for harassing players in their sleep I guess
- Welp, looks like they adopted a child on the third date
- That Army guild claimed the starting town :nono:
- The last time they were there was the day the Death Game started
- Around 6000 players left in SAO, aprox 4000 dead in 2ish years, and about 1/3rd of them stayed in Starting Town
- Army shaking down kids in Starting Town, fucking pricks :nono:
- No HP-drop, so Asuna's just gonna beat the shit out of them to her heart's content
- And now you realize: There were real children logged on on Day 1
- Yui's fit buckles the VR world around them
The last three episodes after this are srs business

Re: Sword Art Online Anime [Half Recommendation... but some of it is Full Recommendation]
E11
- Spoiler:
-well, they might have gotten married alarmingly quickly, but at least they picked a nice place tohave to split up in the inevitable divorcelive
-"hey, is our relationship just limited to this world" MAYBE TALK THAT OUT BEFORE PROPOSING AND BUYING A HOUSE TOGETHER!!?
-I'm assuming based on the kind of show that it is, that if they get out of the game alive they will find each other and be easily happy together forever in the real world, but it'd be interesting to see something more realistic where they've got to figure out how to handle the fact that the lives they had where they fell in love are really different from their lives in the real world in a lot of ways that could make a big difference to their relationship or even make it not work anymore. Love conquers all is boring, but it'd be interesting seeing what changes once you have to do laundry instead of just equipping your perma-clean clothes from the menu and where your responsibilities aren't based on something designed to give you Skinner-box fun and excitement anymore and there's more to your life than just what you've pulled together in the last two years from a world not meant for living in, and your parents don't know what to make of you jumping up from your coma and insisting you're married now.
-they don't even know each other's age
-she's embarrassed that he caught her saying she loves him when he was asleep, omg these people are not ready to be even video-game married, this is all too much for my Cynical Old Person shriveled heart
-a high strength stat lets you give piggybacks more freely Kirito seems pretty done with this whole honeymoon thing, though
-ruling out that she's not a player because no indicator, not an npc because they can carry her away, not a quest event because there's no quest log, I love the mysterious stuff
-same sandwiches. Are there not that many really good dishes you can make or does she just like them (they do look delicious, so I could buy it)
-OH THANK GOD, it's intentional that she's acting way younger than she should, I was worried the writers just didn't know the difference between a toddler and an 8-yr-old
-the way they're just like "a child! finally our house feels like a home," like they're an old married couple that had wanted kids for years but thought it was never going to happen at this point, dude, you're fourteen!
-Ooh, we're going to head to beginning town and see what's up with that army takeover
-30% of all people live in the starter town!?! It's sort of surprising how busy most other places seem to be, with only like 4000 people spread between the other, what, ~75 levels at this point? Maybe there are some levels/towns that really just suck and no one goes to them.
-the Front's taking children away (also, there are more young children here? I kind of thought the little sister girl was about the youngest
-and people working as teachers! Have they developed a system of publicly funded social services or is it just someone nice doing what needs doing?
-the Front's soldiers might get to act like petty dictators, but what good is power if you have to wear that stupid, grey, eye-covering helmet?!
-"don't worry, nothing can lower your HP in an inside area" in that icy, dismissive voice was badass, that feeling of "you're an insect to me."
-Woah, what the hell was that?? Is she some kind of glitched-person that glitches the whole world??

- Spoiler:
- Yui happily offering her food, god dammit <3
- Orphanage for the children who were logged in <3
- Again like the Knights of the Blood, the small guild that's meant for good things eventually grows into an oppressive atmosphere
- Eyyyy, it's the guy who complained about Beta Testers from the first episode
- And all those players they saved from the Boss was the high-level Army guys who were not liking it
- The set-up seemed trap-like, but Yui can tell if someone is lying
- "The rebelllious phase."
- Probablyyyyy shouldn't be taking a child into a dungeon
- I high level dungeon hidden in Starting Town that wasn't in the original beta test
- Yui being all excited seeing Kirito kill the shit out of everything, she's so adorable
- HIS PRECIOUS TOAD MEAT
- WUH OH
- Fatal Scythe, dat Grim Reaper boss
- A 90th Floor monster and they're only in the 70s if I recall right
- Kirito sets to parry the slash, Asuna reinforces him
- It stopped for Yui
- IMMORTAL
- OBJECT
- That fucking Fire Sword
- So what you're saying is that Yui is over level 90
- And then she uses their names
- The Cardinal System runs SAO without human maintenance and maintains balance
- Yui's the mental health AI for a Death Game
- "Nothing's genuine about me. Even these tears."
- And she had to watch people lose their minds, commit suicide etc and Cardinal prevented her from doing anything
- Two players who started to really love being part of the online world
- 2nd Date: Get Married. 3rd Date: Adopt Child. 4th Date: Become Real Family

Re: Sword Art Online Anime [Half Recommendation... but some of it is Full Recommendation]
E12
- Spoiler:
-wowww, there's a lot of (in-game) orphans
-the Front becomes an oppressive group with power-grabbers as it got too big, similar to the Blood Knights but more evil/military
-Mysterious Waif Lie-Detector!
-"rebellious phase"
-don't let the kid come along into super-dangerous dungeon, if they don't learn how to say no to her they're going to raise a spoiled brat! Does this world have parenting classes?
-a lvl 60 dungeon under the starter town that unlocked as they advance, feels pretty ominous the ways the game is changing as it progresses
-they've known her half a day, how do they know she's steadier than she looks?? Also, already starting to put parental expectations on her
-throwing away all his precious frog meat
-Taking on the probably-lvl-90 boss together
-Wow, the Front must be incompetant, two of their top officers can't even teleport away with a child successfully
-she's an OBJECT?!?
-an object with a flaming sword three times her length that can kill level 90 bosses.
-mental health AI
-"even these tears are fake," I'm feeling like the emotion in all of this is trying too hard, it all comes through as a little calculated and unconvincing.
-oof, being forced to monitor the players' mental states and reflect their emotions as they despair and kill themselves etc, without being able to do anything about it would genuinely be brutal, though, I 100% buy that part and why she'd want to just be a child in a happy family.
-seriously, we're supposed to believe that Kirito and Asuna are the only people in the game who felt happy and peaceful in the game and make people feel better, to the point where their existence was able to fix a traumatized mental health AI? That's ridiculous. Especially since we've seen other people who come across as mostly pretty happy and who seem like they're probably making the people around them happier, like Klein and the cute blacksmith, and they've talked about how other people are getting less interested in trying to leave the game because they're seeing it as their real lives now, they've not been portraying it as wall-to-wall horror for most people most of the time. Tbh, this is the most Gary Stu/Mary Sue-ish thing yet.
-this show is starting to lose me, Asuna's on the floor sobbing her heart out and I'm completely removed. There's interesting stuff going on in the game reality side of things that could be really engaging but they're trying to shove all their eggs into the emotion basket instead and it's not a big enough basket for that.
-out of nowhere he's a hacker now too who can instantly turn an AI program into a game object on a system that he's never used before that's actively trying to delete it?
-super hacker saved Yui into his own nervegear and thinks he can make her exist in the real world from it, what the hell. That feels about as convincing as if next episode he just happened to find a control panel, hacked his way into ending the game, setting everyone free and putting millions of dollars into their bank accounts, plus let them have IRL the appearance they'd initially designed for the games but that it took away in the first episode if they want it.
-Sooo, now when they leave the game, they're going to be like "hi mom and dad, I know I've been in a coma for two years but I've got to go find my husband/wife so we can recreate our AI child into the real world and have a few more kids, toodles! What do you mean I need to graduate high school?"
- Spoiler:
- So what you're saying is that Yui is over level 90

Just in case you decide to double-up (because tbh I'm gonna double up on it ), Episode 14 is the end of the original first novel, which was never planned as a series, so for all intents and purposes, that is the The End moment. You can preserve the ending, or I can just tell you some of the things that happen afterwards, or just skip around to other things after that.

- Spoiler:
- Yeah, fishing is boring
- The old guy has no issue sharing IRL with someone he just met
- This guy wants soy sauce, and here Kirito's like "... Should I tell him?"
- THE DEPTHS OF HELL: FISHING
- Kirito can't catch shit
- Asuna's getting excited by this legendary fish king
- The clearing group was originally created to escape the game, now Asuna thinks the clearing group is there to uphold the peace of the people living within the world
- And Kirito's a little guilty because his high level of skill was strictly for his own selfish survival needs and not for upholding the peace
- People showed up to see them catch the fish king
- That fucking music while Asuna kills the king fish
- And then everyone's all "HOLY SHIT IT'S ASUNA THE FLASH." I love how she's extremely recognizable but Kirito somehow kept enough of a low profile that people only figure out he's the Black Swordsman when he shows off his gear
- BOOOO HEATHCLIFF
- The old guy talking about how those trying to beat the game seem like different people that the regular joes even in this world, and then Asuna talking about how she was a different person until some fucking idiot lying in the grass taught her that life is life regardless if it's IRL or OL
- "As we partied together" is so nerdy in this world
- All hands on deck for this boss
- Yikesssss, playing the "Protective (E-)Husband" route with Asuna isn't gonna work
- And it finally got to Kirito, he doesn't want to leave anymore
- Oh god, "What's happening to our real bodies." An "incident" where everyone logged out for just long enough to transfer their bodies to hospitals, but it's been two years so they've been deteriorating, just like coma patients
- There's a time limit, because at some point their bodies could give out
- Stares, maybe because they abandoned the front lines for a few weeks?
- Eyyyyy Agil and Klein (I always want to call him "Keith")
- PLEASE PROTECT ME TOO ASUNA-SWANNNNNN
- Musicccc as the Skull Reaper descends
- ONE HIT KILLS
- FUCKING HEATHCLIFF
- This cliffhanger would've destroyed me had I watched it week-to-week
- "The End of the World"

E14
- Spoiler:
- Eyyyyy, that monster boss fight you cliffhanged on sure got resolved quickly
- Def one of my favourite anime intros
- Christ. 14 of the Clearing Party, and another 10 previously with the scouting party, to beat the level 75 boss when they've only got like 400 people still clearing? Fuckkkkk
- Heathcliff's HP is still not in the yellow zone.
- EY WHOA KIRITO
- IM
- MOR
- TAL
- OB
- JECT
- "There's nothing more boring than watching an RPG."
- Kirito's so Gary Stu that he couldn't believe anyone could dodge him
- Kayaba made himself the fucking Final Boss
- Dual-Wield was granted to the player with the fastest reflexes
- He's paralyzing them so he can go take his place on the top floor
- And giving Kirito a shot at the last boss early
- The memory of all the people he's seen die drives him to try it
- Agil's been funding players on the lower levels to help them survive ;_;
- Getting him to temporarily grant immortality and/or allow resurrecting for Asuna so she doesn't ice herself if Kirito happens to lose
- Kirito won't use Sword Skills because Kayabe designed them all in the first place
- And then Kayabe scratches his cheek and he does it anyways
- He's not good enough and he realizes it
- OH FUCK I FORGOT THE SWORD BREAKS
- AGH ASUNA
- Trying to grab her digitized data as it's floating away
- OH MAN HE PICKS UP ASUNA'S SWORD
- Totally fucking defeated
- USE THE FORCE KIRITO
- Showing up as a temporary ghost, the same way the dead person in that detective case they were one did for a moment
- The Game Has Been Cleared
- ASUNA
- "Sorry, I died too."
- Watching Aincrad disintegrate
- Their forest house
- DR KAYABA YOU PRICK
- 6100 survivors have logged out, the 3900 are dead for good
- "I wonder how old I was when I became entranced by that steel castle floating in the sky."
- This guy created Sword Art Online because it was his childhood dream. Legit one of my favourite villain-motivation reveals ever. He just wanted to fucking make anime real, and dragged 10 thousand people along with him
- "In some other world, that castle truly exists." And despite it all, Kirito and Asuna kind of wish it did too
- "Congratulations for beating the game. Now then, I'll be on my way." And just disappears with the breeze.
- "Tell me your real name." Just fuck my shit up, fam
- "I think I turned 16 last month." They're not even remembering their own birthdays or real ages anymore.
- Asuna used her real name
- "It was the happiest time of my life." This ends up becoming a bit of a recurring thing in the series. Despite the death game, their time in Sword Art Online is special to the people who survived it
- OH MAN EXTINGUISHING IN ALL-WHITE
- Waking up, no buzzing of the Nervegear playing
- A gaunt Kirito coming to and realizing what happened
- Absent-mindedly pulling the heart-monitor from his arms. Even though he's escaped SAO and returned to real life, the real him from the online world is now dead, just like the game world.
- Can't speak because his vocal chords haven't been used in two years
- And then leaving his hospital room and trying to find her as the end credits play, walking into the light, another death metaphor

Re: Sword Art Online Anime [Half Recommendation... but some of it is Full Recommendation]
Okay, I guess I'll see whether I want to know or if I'm satisfied leaving it there after watching 14, then. That seems like it's going to be a pretty sudden ending, from where things are at the end of E13.
E13
E13
- Spoiler:
-old guy is happy to be a fisherman here (which backs up my argument for last episode, how is this relaxed guy going fishing every day any less happy and un-stressful than Kirito and Asuna?
-his reaction to being able to get soy sauce, better not tell him Asuna can make mayonnaise too, he might have a heart attack
-Asuna's stifled laughter at Kirito's reaction to hearing that his lake is the only hard fishing spot in the area was cute
-And she's so excited at the resident beast and Kirito's so disgruntled
-the responsibility of frontliners to the people living their ordinary lives
-the poor little bait lizard had tears in its eyes
-that whole fishing scene made me LOL pretty hard
-I'm surprised Kirito's so bummed out about having to go back to fighting, the only times he hasn't seemed bored the entire time they've been off have been fights (well, except for playing parent)
-guy that worked for the game company isn't sure he'll still have a job when he gets back THEY'RE THE ONES WHO TRAPPED YOU IN THIS WORLD, YOU SHOULD BE GETTING TWO YEARS' WORTH OF OVERTIME FOR THIS (and should probably also quit, your workplace is kind of evil )
-she realized even if it wasn't in the real world, it's her real life to make the most of each day thanks to him (though, gotta say, it was kind of out of nowhere that he was supposedly really making the most of his life in this world when prior to that episode, we'd mostly seen him cutting himself off from other people, being guilt-ridden and driven but sulky, occasionally reluctantly teaming up with a cute girl only to never see her again, apparently wasn't even eating nice food, and then all of a sudden he's supposed to be the relaxed one enjoying his life?)
-he fell in love with her as a badass fighter who fought at the front lines, but being in love now makes it terrifying for her to do that, but then also not thinking about that if she stays safe and he dies she won't feel any better than he would, is that really something you'd want to put on someone you love so you don't have to risk it yourself?
-yikes, planning to kill herself if he dies, everything escalates so fast with these two. The show isn't really treating how intense and sudden their relationship is as anything other than Twue Wuv, but it sort of makes more sense if you see it as a way of coping with a traumatic situation that's not that healthy even if it has a happy surface.
-just wants to run somewhere safe with her, never mind the real world
-thinking about what's happening to their bodies, with the image of the streets full of comatose people while they were being moved to the hospital
-oh, so now she wants to date him before getting married, I guess marriage does mean more in the real world than in the game
-Seeing how few other people are wearing guild clothes even though it seems like most people are in guilds, it kind of makes the Knights of Blood look like massive dorks that they insist on matching armour all the time
-that creepy motherfucker of a boss!
-one-hit kills and people start to panic, but Heathcliff holds steady, he's totally going to die heroically
-Kirito and Asuna taking on the scythes together
-merchant-guy's arm, he's doooomed!

Re: Sword Art Online Anime [Half Recommendation... but some of it is Full Recommendation]
E14
This seems like a good ending that I probably would do better not to ruin by watching something not that good extending it. I guess whether or not I should skip ahead and watch the later arcs that are good or just leave it there depends for me on how much it keeps doing interesting things with the concept of life inside a game (or the aftermath of that)?
- Spoiler:
-realizing things are this hard and they've still got 14 floors to go with whoever's left alive after losing so many strong fighters here
-Suddenly realizing Heathcliff is the creator???? (pretty out of the blue that he realizes it, though, it kind of needed more groundwork laid 1st)
-IMMORTAL OBJECT
-they can't even let the one guy have beaten Kirito without him being unbeatable
-(I actually do like watching other people play rpgs )
-wait, Kirito got the dual wield skill because he's got the fastest reaction time? But they've made a point of saying Asuna's faster even if he's better overall? (Also, if I were in this show, I'd totally have gotten the skill with my ninja reflexes, but it would have been a massive waste of a good skill because I'd otherwise completely suck )
- doesn't even bother fighting now, just glitches the guy attacking him
-Asuna's okay with Kirito going against Kaiba because if he says he'll win she believes him
-Aww, Agil secretly putting everything towards helping lower level players, even though they always joked about him being so cheap
-apologizing for leaving Klein behind at the start, and Klein just starts bawling
-asks Kaiba to keep Asuna from committing suicide if he dies
-avoiding using sword skills because his opponent's the one who programmed them
-realizing he can't win and thinking "sorry" to Asuna
-ASUNA TAKES THE BLOW
-that teary smile as she starts glowing
-the way he reaches out to try and catch the sparkles of her death like maybe he can save the data
-Kaiba just being like "huh, I didn't make a way for her to do that, well, these things happen," what a fucking asshole
-his expression changes just slightly as Kirito picks up Asuna's sword
-those pathetic sword-swipes like he can't summon the will to fight but still has to do it And then Kaiba just runs him right through
-just as his last drop of hp runs out, he remembers Asuna saying she believes in him and he moves like he was suddenly determined to win now, but it's too late, aaaaghhh
-WOAH, gone ghostly but still fighting! So there is some kind of unintended ghost mechanism like in the murder mystery episode
-asking "is this enough?" and when Asuna's sword glints, he lets himself go
-THE GAME HAS BEEN CLEARED
-his expression when he hears Asuna
-their house falling as the game world crumbles might be the most melancholy thing in the world
-"the dead disappear, no matter what world."
-he doesn't even remember why he did it, fucker, going on about why he made it and introspecting, and I'm just like PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE, SHUT THAT FUCKER UP, FUCK HIS SELF-IMPORTANT EGO TRIP
-And then "I still believe that that castle exists in another world," and it's like "you tortured and/or and murdered 10 000 people to make a cool world, wtf" but when Kirito says he hopes so too, you know exactly what he means. You can't help wanting some impossible world to exist anyway
-exchanging real names before they disappear (smart, Asuna, now you can find e/o when you definitely wake up in the real world, for sure. Right?)
-sobbing and holding each other, faces touching, as everything turns to light, and they turn to linework and disappear
-back in the real world where he's been in a coma for two years and looks like hell
-immediately stands up and sets off to find her even though he's in a hospital gown and can barely walk (oh no, his poor parents are going to come to find their son woke up and immediately went missing!)

As I recall, Asuna mentions it when comparing their swordsmanship and styles, Asuna is faster than him because she uses lighter swords and light armour so she doesn't lose agility, he uses heavy Guts type swords. The implication being that he'd be better than her if he used a lighter sword too.

One of my favourite villains. If you don't want to watch anymore, there's a thing that he said in the past that's shown in a flashback at one point that explains his motivations a little bit more
I'll go a little bit more into things so you can make the decision if you wanna watch anymore.
- Spoiler:
- Important things do happen in the second arc (Fairy Dance), but it's not good. You do need to know things that happened in it to watch anymore after this. Everything else isn't totally necessary.
- Third arc is interesting because it's about PTSD, mostly Kirito-based, and because it's the only arc so far that leaves behind a fantasy world for a different game, and brings back the things that were missing in the second arc that made it so bad.
- The game in the third arc also has a side-anime based on it called SAO Alternative: GGO. It is wildly entertaining and done by a different author (the one who wrote Kino no Tabi/Kino's Journey).
- Fourth arc is a small two or three episode filler arc. It's okay, kind of just there.
- Fifth arc makes Kirito a side-character while someone else takes center-stage. It's not the best action arc but this arc gets emotional as fuck, wreck-your-feels type. Some people have it as their favourite because of this.
We're a cour into Alicization so far. The pacing is very different, Alicization is a longform story that's as big as the rest of the series combined, so the world-building and unfolding of the storyline is sometimes agonizingly slow, but the mysteries and interesting and plot resolutions for situations tend to deliver.

Aight, so the recommendation for the rest of the first season is:
Watch Episode 15
Episode 24 18:10ish to the end of the episode ("Everything's over now, right?")
Episode 25 04:11ish to the end of the episode ("Come on, [redacted]'s waiting for you")
It tells you everything you need to know and sort of wraps up the original storyline, without actually having to sit through it

Actually, should probably watch Episode 16 after this too. Afterwards it's up to you if you want to keep watching it despite the problems or just skip ahead to the important bits. Part of what makes it bad has already made itself apparent or been hinted at
- Spoiler:
- Kirito having nightmares about SAO and Asuna being gone
- "I've become a real crybaby, Asuna."
- Sugu-chwannnnn
- Oh man, flashbacks to watching him waste away while he was stuck in SAO
- "It's light in comparison." Kirito's concept of reality still slightly screwed up
- Brother/Sister shit-talk
- Using his SAO skills IRL, oh god the cringe
- Sorry Onii-chan, Video Game Gary Stu-ing only gets you so far IRL
- Still automatically tries to sheathe his sword
- "Practicing." I don't know if it's meant to be an idea that Kirito is struggling with IRL again so going back to what he knows from SAO, but I choose to believe it is
- Asuna-chwannnnn lives <3
- He had to trade information with the Feds to get Asuna's whereabouts
- The SAO incident still hasn't ended
- Whoops, arranged marriage to a fufufufu-type
- Fufufufu, I stole SAO and now I'm going to marry your girl
- Oh yeah, btw, Kirito is really good with computers and electronics
- But it's okay, it runs in the family
- That feel when you'll never be Sugu's cousin
- She runs the wrong way, fucking adorable
- Mystery screenshot

- Spoiler:
The bad guy is cartoonishly evil in a negative way. Like he's in his 20s or 30s and has a significant role in a major corporation, but all of that is secondary to being a trolling creeper who gets in the way of a bunch of teenage kids who want to be boyfriend and girlfriend. It only get worse with him, he very much comes off as the author trying too hard to make the viewer/reader hate the character as a villain rather than letting his actions and motivations making him the villain like Kayaba or the Laughing Coffin.
Asuna-in-a-cage: people who like Asuna as a badass hate this arc because she's mostly reduced to a damsel in a distress.
