And now Debbie Reynolds has apparently been rushed to the hospital. Reports are she's been taking Carrie Fisher's death very hard. I can only imagine. Having to bury your child, and at Christmastime to boot.

ETA: And it's official. The curtain has closed on Debbie Reynolds. Sad

This is one of those times where something like, "I feel so awful for the family," isn't just a cliche. Carrie's daughter Billie is only 24, and her brother Todd was planning Carrie's funeral when Debbie collapsed.

If by Fox News you mean Shep Smith. He's the only actual newsperson over there, as far as I can tell. And he frequently says things that seem at odds with the rest of the network.

Last I checked, this is unconstitutional.

It is, and they know it. They're primarily making a statement and also taking a longshot bet that the composition of the Supreme Court will change by the time the case reaches that level of review. Even then, it's unlikely a total ban on abortion will be upheld - it's more likely that even a more conservative court will try to chip away at it by upholding other sorts of restrictions (which is bad enough). Basically, Indiana has decided to grandstand a bit, and if the bill passes (which it may not), to waste a few million dollars of its taxpayers money on a futile constitutional challenge.

I wish we could have a conversation about abortion in this country. And I do mean a conversation. Not stunts like this or preaching to the choir or yelling at the other side from entrenched positions and ideologies that demonize everyone.

Best conversation I had about abortion was in Iran, of all places. My coworker told me that his wife had an abortion so she could get a job (pregnancy discrimination is a thing pretty much everywhere),, over dinner with his wife and a few other coworkers. The Americans and Canadians were Shiny/thrilled

but everyone else was, "Oh, well that is tough! Are you going to try for another after your probationary period?" Made me realize how even us pro choice people do not treat it as a normal medical procedure that no one wants to do but must occasionally be done
