The course schedule was never uploaded the first two weeks of class, so I assumed it would never show up. Saw today that it is now available and I am three chapters behind, close to 120 frickin' pages behind. I wasn't sure what was coming next since we got off to a delayed start due to issues with people not being able to get into the server.
If I try to ~~slog through~~ read the two chapters I was supposed to already have read then I'll far farther behind and probably never catch up, and if I move on to the current chapter and try to speed read the two I didn't get to, I'll feel like I'm working in utter chaos because chapter-jumping goes against my routine.

So. I'm fucked.

This morning while driving down my street, I got momentarily blinded by the sun and rear-ended a parked car. My dad, on seeing a picture, estimated it was about $4000 worth of damage to my vehicle (mostly body word.) I called my insurance company, and it turns out, I only have liability, not collision.

Back story: I got auto insurance, with full coverage, in October 2011. A year later, coverage just suddenly stopped (I didn't notice; I was not the best at budgeting and so didn't fully see where my money was going.) When I finally did notice in September 2013, I called and said I wanted to reinstate my policy. Well, apparently there was some confusion, because they gave me only liability. I however, like an idiot, didn't realize this and just signed the papers.

So now I have thousands of dollars of damage on my car and no freaking way to fix it. I fail at Adult. I am so fucking boned.

We had our issues with the upstairs/downstairs cliques, but it didn't get worse until this year. As we're being forced to get to know each other better, some of us seem to be more of an issue than others. Things are happening that hadn't been happening before and it is hard to see some people in a positive and friendly light as it was before.
Or maybe it's just that things have been gradually going downhill and are finally starting to visibly accumulate at the bottom.

EDIT: Apparently I was typing this while RBS was typing hers. That situation sounds like it sucks royally.

So I just decided to format my iphone and restore it from a backup on my computer - that managed to change my remaining free space on it from about only 2GB to about 6GB (!) of free space right now!

As much as I love my iphone, it does have it's frustrating points - like why in the name of all that is holy do I have to format the ENTIRE phone and then restore it (a 20 min at process, at least), just to get clear of a bunch of temp files piling up in the storage space? Why can't apple provide a handy "Clear Temp Files" Option on the phone or at least within the Itunes software itself?! Loopy

Found out that everyone in my department knows about my having lost my last job in the field for reporting sexual harassment. Had tried hard to only share this fact with a few trusted confidantes. Guess I chose badly. Cherry on top: apparently this has caused some folks to surmise I am "two-faced." Reminder, kids: if you ever rat on your boss for touching your tit, you may have a hard time ever getting clear of the fallout.

Oh, I have been there myself, and I'm sorry you're there. I'd like to come up with something to say besides, "People are awful," but...well...sending Jedi Hugs? It seems inadequate. I'm sorry. You shouldn't have to deal with this.

Uhm, I thought that was illegal. Terminating you in retaliation for reporting sexual harassment I'm almost sure is illegal... or at the very least should be since sexual harassment in and of itself is a big no-no.

), and now I'd really like to leave the whole mess behind me. Just feeling frustrated at how hard that seems to be. 'Preciate the hugs.

50 Shades is hilariously bad, portrays S&M in a terrible manner, and there are a thousand better written dubcon stories out there. But how the narrative flipped from "stop mocking women for having fantasies" to "50 Shades encourages domestic violence" now that it hits the big screen I'll never know.

It's 1:00am. I should have gone to sleep long ago, but once again I'm up late unable to make myself go to bed. Am I anxious or upset about something my subconscious decided not to let my conscious in on? I have a 3 day weekend ahead of me. That should make me feel less anxious but it's not.

High school guy on an off topic thread in a baseball blog I frequent was complaining about not deciding to go to a beer and Netflix party with a bunch if attractive girls that he called "hook up central". Now I'm feeling sad and depressed about my current and past social situation again. I don't even get invited to parites, I never have, let alone ones where hookups are possible. Sigh... Doesn't help that I read that on Valentines day

Do I need to grow up? There are people thrice my age with this sense of humour. You're confusing maturity with empathy and empathy with Weltschmerz. I understand this is not your type of humour, which is why I don't use it near you, but I have explicitly explained to you that I will keep making those jokes. Forget objectively harmful if you haven't read a single study on the subject and the best I can make out of the hodgepodge of conflicting results is 'different strokes for different folks'. Forget catering to the worst case scenario, as these people have self-preservation and filter out my type from their social circle anyway. Forget 'freeze peach' strawmen, I simply said I'm not going to cater to you because you are not my type of person. Yes, I am an asshole, but my friends are assholes by your standards and they are a wee bit more important to me than you are. Frankly, I have heard all your arguments before in a better form and they still didn't convince me. So go on, tell your pals, spread the word and we'll see who alienates everyone first.

The recent attacks in Paris and Copenhagen... They have been on a list of target where Norway (where I live) has also been mentioned. Norwegian security people has said even before this that there's been a surge of activity in several violently inclined ideologies lately, and that we're likely to experience a terrorist event in 2015. I know it's still less of a danger than – say – crossing the street, but unlike most things in the news, this is getting to me a little bit.

Really feel you on this as somebody who grew up in 9/11/sniper/anthrax-era DC. It helped me to stay away from the news on anxious days, and to remind myself that the odds are infinitesimal that I'd ever be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Hope you feel better soon.
