Well, that was a pretty disgusting read.

Well, there's always the possibility it was the same person posting.
I'm usually wary of threats like this because they do happen on 4chan all the time including suicide threats in which we never hear from anyone after ever again. Though, with this thread, you just may have your pre-shooting announcement... :I

That's the kind of stuff that made me go "this place is starting to get a little scary." Or at least that little subculture if you can call it that of the board.
Elliot Rodger is a "supreme gentleman" meme (the idea being "when are you finally going to snap from being a loser for so long and take some people with you") and a lot of shootings or things like that end with people trying to figure out if the perpetrator was a robot or not (I usually think just figuratively, but maybe those were actually being literal considering this incident)

[Mod:]Suika, I have removed the video you posted above. While people may have different responses to tragedies like this, I don't think humorous takes on it is a response that belongs on this site. In addition, it had some pretty violent scenes that would not have belonged here in any context.
Edit: I'd also like this to serve as a general reminder to be careful with the humor around topics like this.[/mod]

Re: Politics and Current Events
It's not as much humor as it's actual information, more so than what the folks at CNN could muster together.

MOD
Suika, Hirundo thought the video was inappropriate. The other mods agreed. Please do not argue with the decision.

Re: Politics and Current Events
It is very strange for me to see the Washington Post and places like that temporarily looking at r9k/4chan and trying to figure out what's actually happening to make these people like that

Yeah, internet haunts spilling into mainstream media attention is uncomfortable. It was really weird for a while thinking of Benghazi as "that time Vilerat died."

With all of the shootings going on, I'm wondering if repealing the Second Amendment might be a good idea.

Then there would be no purpose for his justification in the first place.

Fuck me. The NAU one sounds like it was 2 bunches of drunk men and a gun, which makes it kind of typical gun violence that happened to occur on a campus, but TX and OR maybe not so much.

Some of my friends are voting for ABC today - anyone but the Conservatives.

Re: Politics and Current Events
CTV is projecting a Liberal Majority, CBC called it for the Liberals but aren't projecting Minority or Majority
Liberals swept Atlantic Canada, turned parts of Quebec red (especially Montreal), grabbed on to Vancouver, and did well in Ontario.
NDP got hammered this time around.
I'm going to be pretty shocked if this turns into a Majority.

What does red mean in Canada? Here it means Republicans/conservatives/Tea Party.
And Vancouver wasn't already liberal?

Re: Politics and Current Events
Red for Liberal, Blue for Conservative, Green for Greens (I think they're pretty Scandinavian these days), Orange for NDP (think socialist wing of the democrats), some weird aqua colour for Bloc (Quebec Separatists)
I think most of BC went Conservative with patches of NDP last time out.
Liberals are not the most left-ish party in Canada (sometimes they even lean right-wards), and they have a patchy history in BC (Liberal Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau famously was caught giving protesters in BC the finger, which did not help the idea that the Liberals saw Western Canada as more of a series of resource outposts used to buy votes in the population-heavy East).

Re: Politics and Current Events
Ah, I get that. Like how IMO everything in the US has an East Coast bias, and out here we were so frequently used as nuclear waste dumping ground. And three space shuttles went to the East Coast and only one anywhere else.
But I assumed, based on nothing other than geography, that Vancouver would be like Seattle and Portland and lean left. I am now more educated.
