Certain people I know who are very quick to bring up role model responsibilities whenever a famous person does something they disapprove of are tonight championing the view that they don't want to know anything about a sports star but his stats. Surely a coincidence. Suspect

Don't know if anyone else has been following the news on it, but the draft of the Republicans' official platform is even farther right than Trump. Anti-LGBTQ, pro-traditionalist family, pro-religion in public schools, anti-women in combat, and on and on.

It specifically says that parents should be allowed to decide what's medically appropriate for their LGBTQ kids, meaning conversion therapy which has been medically debunked for decades.

It calls for legislators to make sure man's law follows God's law.

I saw one headline label it Theocracy, not Democracy.

Damn. Things are not good here. In fact, they are so not good that we are being relocated via the land border with Iran. You know shit is bad when international organizations decide traveling with an American staff member to Iran is your best option

(Please note that I am in the Southeast, a place where there has been guerilla war for 40 years, and not near a tourist area. Friends in Bodrum, Fethiye, etc say things are calm but tense)

Thanks everyone! It ended up being...... honestly I have no idea what just happened, coup? Political theatre?....but we ended up staying in Diyarbakir and things are OK.

The FBI is saying the Russians are behind the DNC email hack and selective release to WikiLeaks. Theory is that Putin wants to smear the Democrats and get Trump elected. Possibly because Trump is isolationist and is already talking about how he won't honor NATO agreements. And Putin wants Estonia and the rest of the Baltics.

George Will is positing that Trump doesn't want to release his tax records because he has big ties to Russia financially.

Trump's RNC speech is being called Nixon-like.
