Just the ones I see that are continuations. I haven't read any of the synopses yet (except the Harem one). There's a few others I'm gonna collect for stuff that I mean to watch later. I miiight try watching Lupin III because people in the know say you don't need to know anything about it/they're all self-contained. There's one about women's ice hockey somewhere too, says one of my friends

Hmm, the SAO one just sounds like a movie remake of the first season?

Nothing that stands out that much.  Mieruko-chan might be fun, Sakugan seems like it might have a cool exploration vibe like Made in Abyss (hopefully without the emotional devastation), I wouldn't mind giving Lupin III a try either.

...I hope the shoulder on that woman in the Jojo image looks weird for a reason and that's not just what they think deltoids do.

Progressive is more like an add-on. SAO jumped ahead a few months at a time, Progressive shows the full story of them progressing level by level.

LUPIN III is mostly self contained and can be started with any series at any time. There are references to some past material, but they're rare and don't get in the way of things if you don't get them. Heck, the franchise has been around since the 70's and I can count the reoccurring villains on one hand, and have fingers left over. And by "reoccurring," I mean "showed up twice decades apart," not like the Joker. It's more about enjoying the characters in the wacky situations they're in. The franchise is often compared to SCOOBY DOO in that way.

There are a ton of films and TV specials, which is where I started, and they can vary in quality. I will say a good place to start, and where many have, is in the film CASTLE OF COGLIOSTRO, if you haven't seen it. It introduces everyone and is just a solid piece of work (and is referenced often in the TV specials). I haven't watched as much of the TV series but the quality can vary. The newer series, of course, benefit from better animation and some more nuanced storytelling.

I think this is the first time I haven't been shocked by how early the new season starts; the weather's been pretty fall-like here, so it seems fair enough, especially since I'm not just finishing up last season still.

I've gotten super backed up on everything so it may take me a bit to get to some of these episode 1s (gonna kinda prioritize stuff I'm already watching first so I don't get too far behind)

Oops, forgot to check if any of the new releases this weekend were netflix or not. One of them at least was and I saw "9 episodes" and was immediately like "I'll pass unless the weekly stuff is just not there at all"

Mieruko-chan sounded like it was going to be more of a horror-comedy, but it landed up being pretty much just horror, and also just not very good. No reason to watch this one.

I turned on the hockey anime and the first thing I see is "Japan 4 Canada 4" and I got immediately offended and shut it off

That's the stuff right there. Great first episode (a bit cartoonishly edgy with the step-family) but might be one of those animes that loses it partway through

It's not my favourite anime because nothing happens! I tried another episode (first ep of the current season), but literally all that happens in the entire episode is everyone thinks about their food a lot and then there's some slow, really mundane interactions.  I'd have to be able to actually taste the food myself for that alone to carry a show, and they don't even make the food look delicious enough for that, tbh. Sorry!

Sakugan - the characters were kind of annoying, and the premise isn't that original at this point, but I somehow feel like this one has potential.

What's with the episode 0, is it an actual episode or some kind of clip thing I don't need to watch?

I actually don't know why it's called Episode 0, but it was a full episode and it looks like Episode 1 is a different one
