Post-mortem...
Soo went to Halloween party last night (yay), got drunk (double-yay), talked to this cutie dressed as Penny Lane for a good lot of the evening (Yay). Flirted, so to speak (yaay) and woulda made a move, turns out she had a boyfriend when I hinted at foolin' around (booo). But gave her a hug when she left and a peck on the cheek (whooo) as she left too.

My cousin finally got a foster child placed in her home! They're hoping she'll be available for adoption next year.

Nice Eselle!
I'm finally close to getting a job, after a year.
It's my dream job too (I might even get to visit NASA at one point in the future!).
Feels truly unreal.

Re: Joys and Good News
Was over at a friend's house for board game night and their cat, who is usually kind of shy around anyone other than her owners, jumped into my lap and stayed there for a good several minutes being quite affectionate. I love cats but don't have my own because I still live with my parents and they don't want pets (and I haven't decided if I actually want to get one whenever I move out), so my only chances to interact with them occur when I visit other cat owners. But it's pretty rare for cats to be affectionate toward relative strangers, so when it actually happens, it makes my day.

The NaNo-thing seems to work for me again this year, after the frustrations and eventual dropping out from it last year... Almost reached today's word count after two sessions, and have a narrator's that makes a lot of its own language.
Re: Joys and Good News
I made an appointment with a counselor for this tuesday, encouraged by my friend who is going to the same location (it's an off-campus spot).
I gave him a ride there, and sitting out in the car I started having a bad thought spiral via texting with my mom.
I was like "InkAndComb, you are *literally* right outside of a therapist's office. What do you have to lose?"
So I went in, got the papers I needed to fill out, went to talk to a secretary, and they booked me a session immedietly.
I'm so nervous, but also very proud; I've been struggling to meet with someone who is a professional and also not through student health.
It's a real relief, a real weight off my chest.

Re: Joys and Good News
So as long as I'm on indefinite government allowance for people in reeducation/rehabilitation/evaluation/we're not sure what to do with you, I get postponement on paying back my student loan, as long as I fill in some simple online forms regularly, only I've misunderstood some stuff and found out I'd have to fill in some other form to retain that right, and that form has an eighth week processing time. So I called and asked a human for help. And it turned out fixing the problem was a lot easier than describing it.
I've also had the joy of being benevolently fangirled on for something I actually like to take credit for... I mentioned in conversation an rpg I've coauthored, and she said, wow, are you the one who made that, and claimed to be a little starstruck. Back in my feelgood reality TV star-days, I received a lot of starstruckness, a lot of it benevolent, and pleasing enough, but being in that show didn't exactly feel like an accomplishment. I didn't create it, I didn't even make an effort to perform there (except for the encounter-suit eccentricity I always perform). When it's for something I've written with my own hands, though... that feels kind of good.

I'm really glad we have the kind of friendship where we can just for no reason whatsoever spend two hours talking about new roommates and old vacations and cool recipes and WoW updates and definitely not about how scary and awful the world is.

Guess who finally got the company ID card printer to spit out some awesome badges?
In related news, guess which printer has a variety of new uncomplimentary nicknames now?

>apply for conference with abstract on tackiest VN out there
>get accepted
Yassss, this is going to be beyond hilarious(I know a dudette who actually did her ResMA on Hatoful Boyfriend, so doing a conference paper on it should be doable).

Finally learnt how to use a screen recorder, mirror videos and view things frame by frame, didn't even know it wasn't that do-able!

Re: Joys and Good News
At a super cheap good noodle place today, stood in line behind an elderly, relatively clean/with-it homeless woman. She was beaming ear-to-ear and talking to the cooks about how happy she was that it was udon day, doing a little "woop noodles" dance the whole time she was in line. The cooks and cashiers obviously knew her as a regular and were joshing around with her, giving her a little extra, generally being nice.
It's no big thing, but I was glad that she could scrape up the $4 for a meal she really liked, that she was so expressively happy to get those noodles, and that the people selling it were treating her right. You don't often see homeless folks treated right in Honolulu.

Re: Joys and Good News
So I finally was able to meet up with a guy I've been talking to from OKC for a few weeks (and was able to get over the fact that he was born in the 90s - I'm 29), and it was really nice! We went for some dim sum and then the science museum (so much sciencing!), and we seemed to have really good rapport. As he was walking me to my car, he put his arm around me. I leaned in, but didn't immediately move my arm to reciprocate, so he asked if it was okay to put his arm there, and said that he was "very into consent". I told him it was totally fine. But for guys (and gals) out there who think that asking stuff like that will be super awkward, or ruin the mood, it really didn't. If anything it was...kind of a turn on. We have a second date planned next weekend

I'm in a very good mood tonight. Have made 3,3 kg of pork sausage, had two good Tinder conversations, am now going to bed feeling useful and social.
Re: Joys and Good News
A doctor I'd been expecting to be difficult and patronizing landed up being helpful instead!
