Also: if american hotels are anything like spanish ones, the room personnel are working at hyperspeed, so any contact they have with the bedsheets is extremely brief.

Definitely be careful when traveling, Glides. Besides just Monkeypox, COVID-19 is still about and even general flus and infections. Actually, I have heard that bringing along your own linens when travelling, if possible, was a good move even before the pandemic.

That said, from what I have heard, while it is possible to catch Monkeypox from linens if someone had it, roughly 95-98% of the cases so far are homosexual/bi men who have slept with other men. That is the group which is most vulnerable (and I hope they are protected way better than in the 80's when the AIDS epidemic hit; at the time, Reagan and Bush Sr. basically left them to die). Some government authority stated as much as recently as my local CBS This Morning show (which I watch a few minutes of while I eat breakfast to get the weather).

I know you mean well, Datelessman, but maybe both of you should take that information with a grain of salt and still be careful.

It's starting to become obvious that there are a lot of interests pushing the angle of the "queer illness", and the insistence in it appearing in queer men has become harmful since people are starting to believe they can't catch it or transmit it since they're not doing gay stuff. The original WHO statement was already proven incomplete and retired.

Anyone check out Doctor Nerdlove's main page lately? He's really spiffed it up, and it looks way more modern and professional now. The archives and columns are there, but the layout is different. His private coaching rates are right at the center of the main page now, and I swear they've changed (i.e. gotten lower), but I could be wrong.

I only first noticed it a few weeks ago but it could have been this way for a while; I've admittedly fallen off reading his column regularly. Part of that is me actually taking Enail's advice not to deliberately seek out things which trigger epic "woe is virgin" rants so much. I actually do take advice from time to time.

My inner cynic notes that he lists a slew of credentials and connections which are in the past. While his column is "syndicated" on other websites (i.e. Good Men Project and UExpress), they're just reposts, not anything new and separate. The last time he did that was for Kotaku, and I think that run ended in 2020. That was also when he last recorded a podcast, which has it's own section now. And most of his "the basics" articles, which are straight up advice and not letter columns, go back to 2021. He also hasn't written a new book in quite a few years.

It kind of made it bittersweet, that DNL has this slick and modern looking redesign of his website at a time when he may be a little "off peak" in terms of his career or influence. But he does a lot of good work for free online to legions of us, so it isn't a complaint. Just something...random.
