bomaye wrote:So the TMNT (2003 animated version) get into a ninja fight with a Men-In-Black style secret service agent. They knock his sunglasses off with a lucky strike, he hits back, perfectly catches them between his index and forefinger, and places them back on like nothing's wrong.
And then when the fight got really serious, he unfastened his tie.
Bishop is definitely an atypical antagonist.
God, this shit is fun. And shockingly violent for a kid's cartoon (Baxter Stockman started as a regular man and now he's a disembodied brain, they implied Leo decapitated Shredder like the original comic before dropping THAT big reveal, no visuals but a lot of sounds mimic bone-breaking or blood splattering noises)
Have fun with the Ninja Tribunal.

This may have something to do with waking up with a fucked-up left eye again this morning, but I cannot stop laughing at this:
Apparently they're raising money with this.

Re: Entertainment Joys
Got around to see Thor the other day, got a sudden craving for Marvel stuff. Might even dig out my old box of curated, translated to Norwegian early Eighties Marvel Universe series... anyway, what happened when I watched Thor was that in in the beginning I had all these Babylon 5 quotes popping up in my head, and a bit later I saw someone in a very minor role who looked distinctly like JMS. But I thought "nah, can't be". Until I found out that he wrote the script.
I think I already knew, I think I heard some talk about it back then, but it's funny anyway. And cool when you know someone's writing so well, you recognize it without being aware.

The Hyperion novels are going to be made into a series. Or maybe a mini-series. I don't know, but Bradley Cooper is making it happen, apparently. I'm excited and concerned!

Horizon Zero Dawn looks awesome. Even though it'll probably be a gazillion years before I get to play it, I like seeing that they're coming out with some inspired new settings and ideas.

That and the play demo of No Man's Sky were the best demos of e3 for me.

I didn't watch that. I try to limit how much I hype myself for games on systems I don't own, and I already know I'm interested in that one.

I think No Man's Sky would get old for me quick, but those first few hours would be astronomically amazing
Also they only showed three minutes, but god damn, what a three minutes x_x

The Lathe of Heaven is a superb novel! It's the kind of philosophical subject matter that really sucks me into science fiction. This definitely has me hooked on Le Guin.

Superheroes, n'Golo martial arts and the Orishas, what's not to love? OK, admittedly the accents can be a bit thick but I think that'll get taken care of when the feature length script gets picked up.

Re: Entertainment Joys
I just finished watching the last movie in the "Hunger Games" series - mockingjay part 1.
Even though I had similar responses during the last 2 movies, this time it really hit me hard. I REALLY liked Jennifer Lawrence performance in this series and to me it seems that with every movie she improves her character even more. I literally found myself a bit teary eyed in this one and I can't remember when was the last time a movie made me teary eyed (maybe "forest gump", but I'm not sure). Her acting simply moves my heart, like magic. The movie itself isn't exactly a masterpiece, but her performance really hits me hard in these movies every time.... god damn.
CANNOT WAIT for the final movie in this series. Hope it's at least as good as the last one (which I think is the best one so far, then the first movie second place and the second is third place for me, as far as story goes).
Also, hearing how everyone is raving around my parts about Pixars "Inside Out", I need to check that out pretty soon too :-)

http://www.atomic-robo.com/ Yay! A return to optimistic sci-fi! Incredibly witty writing. Every pulp trope ever. The superior reptilian genius of Dr. Dinosaur! I really thought a rehash of the Nikola Tesla Science Hero trope would doom it but everything in this comic works.

Don't know much about either Jamie Lee Curtis or Street Fighter myself, but I have a feeling this could make a lot of people here happy?

How had I never seen the Gong Show before? Chuck Barris is the demon of my dreams. All that drunk sass and hopeless dancing.

Oh Inside Out... Maybe it's just that I can relate so very well to Riley but after the movie was done I honestly felt like it had put a bunch of my older brainweasels to rest. I'm not sure where I read it but I think there was some kind of research done that showed that kids could conceptualize and communicate about their feelings more easily after seeing the movie, which in itself is brilliant.

Sort of a joy, sort of a random thought but here's our Big Show set list for the year. Costumes and acts will be a somewhat tongue in cheek Fury Road theme.

Glad Millennium seasons 1 and (especially) 2 still hit a lot of the right notes for me (I have never seen season 3 and never will. "Thanks, but no thanks. Whatever goes in the peepers ends up in the neurobiology.") "Jose Chung's Doomsday Defense" remains my #1 favorite ever meta-humor episode of a real dark drama.
Realized I'm probably an Owl nowadays, though.
