Hehehehe that's true! Looking at it now that it's stopped bleeding and clean it's not big or deep enough to actually leave a badass Harrison Ford scar on there.

Interesting speculation on possible explanations for that study on higher pricing for female products:
http://www.overcomingbias.com/2015/12/sexist-prices.html
http://marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolution/2015/12/more-from-robin-hanson-on-sexist-pricing.html
Most of these speculations can easily be explained as indirect patriarchy anyway, so it doesn't feel that much like JAQing off (i.e. women wanting "the right socks" could stem from women being kept to higher standards of physical appearance, stronger brand loyalty in dudettes stems from marketing that preys more on insecurities than marketing towards men, and so on and so forth). In short, the study can be mined for a bazillion back-and-forth thinkpieces for the next few months.

Hmmm, maybe I should get into hockey what with the San Diego Gulls being revived by the Anaheim Ducks and some of my co-workers being huge into the Gulls and LA Kings...

Re: Random Thoughts: The Randoming
Huh, I would have said mostly not. If we were talking about muppets as a technique, like special effects, yes, but without a specific context, I'd say no, he would more often be classed by his role or the series he's a part of or some other kind of grouping, and muppet would be referring to The Muppets and Sesame Street characters. (The characters from Labyrinth or The Dark Crystal would be a grey area, they're not the Platonic muppet, but they're closer in muppetitude than Yoda, who doesn't have a very muppety feel.)

Yoda was done by Frank Oz. He sounds bit like Fozzie. To me, at least, he counts. And now that Disney/ABC owns both Star Wars and The Muppets, who know what we may see.
Of course, he was all CGI in Episodes II and III (and the DVD of Episode I ).

1/8 installment of How Did Your Lizard Brain Surprise You Today?: realized how much I value having this apartment up high, where I can see a long way at a wide radius. It feels physiologically good, and the prospect of moving to a down-low apartment with no visibility and many enclosing obstacles makes me feel physiologically bad and nervous. Dangit lizard brain

Re: Random Thoughts: The Randoming
My husband and I watched Wild (the movie where Reese Witherspoon plays Cheryl Strayed on her solo hike of the Pacific Crest Trail).
My husband said, "This movie is really good at making you feel the tension of Shroedinger's Rapist. Which one, if any, of these men is going to assault the protagonist?"
I responded, "Yeah, and even how compliments and favors can be menacing or suspicious. Welcome to real life as a woman going about alone."
Also, woman protagonist, hiking a trail alone, and remembering her mother? Passes the Bechdel test in spades.

I haven't cried in years. I just don't seem to have the capacity anymore. I wish I could, because I think it would at least temporarily help relieve some of the pain I feel from all the abuse in my past and the scars that it left behind, as well as all the terrible loneliness I feel now.

So are all the guys on OKC "fit" or work out as a main hobby? Seems to be all I'm seeing lately.

When I see what Alternate-1985 Biff Tannen did to Hill Valley, I think that that's what a Trump presidency would look like

Alt-Biff was based on Trump, according to what my husband tells me.

Re: Random Thoughts: The Randoming
Sure thing. I don't know how contemporary any of them will be since many of them I read back in college (20 years ago). Much of it will be more second wave feminism, but here you go, in no particular order:
The Women's Bible Commentary. Edited by Carol A. Newsom and Sharon H. Ringe
Womanspirit Rising: A Feminist Reader in Religion. Edited by Carol P. Christ and Judith Plaksow
Diving Deep and Surfacing: Women Writers on Spiritual Quest. By Carol P. Christ
Helpmates, Harlots, Heroes: Women's Stories in the Hebrew Bible. By Alice Ogden Bellis
When Women Were Priests: Women's Leadership in the Early Church & the Scandal of their Subordination in the Rise of Christianity. By Karen Jo Torjesen
Rhetoric and Ethic: The Politics of Biblical Studies. By Elisabeth Schuessler Fiorenza
Reformed and Feminist: A Challenge to the Church. By Johanna W.H. van Wijk-Bos
The Serpent and the Goddess: Women, Religion, and Power in Celtic Ireland. By Mary Condren
Feminist and liberation theology have overlaps in theory, if not specifics (Fiorenza's book may work for liberation, too), so they might be good to do together or in succession.

Thanks a lot! Fiorenza was on my list with 'In Memory of Her: A Feminist Theological Reconstruction of Christian Origins'. All of these sound really interesting, I'll add them to my to-read Goodreads list.
